Husafell Canyon Baths Tour

Description
There is no experience more authentically Icelandic than hiking through the surreal landscapes of the highlands followed by a relaxing soak in a geothermal pool. The Canyon Baths The Húsafell locals who undertook the Canyon Baths project went to great lengths to keep the entire structure as environmentally unobtrusive, sustainable and true to the area’s heritage as possible. Choose from two geothermal pools of varying temperatures, 30-41°C (86-105°F), plus a cold-water spring at 10°C (50°F), each with a spectacular view of the surrounding canyon, mountains and glaciers. Led by a knowledgeable local guide in English, this year-round tour begins with a short ride from the Húsafell Activity Centre to the trailhead in the remote Icelandic Highlands. On this 2-hour tour we enjoy a relaxed walk among natural wonders not found in many guidebooks, including the spectacular two-tiered waterfall Langifoss.

The place itself is magical and is done in a small group, and the small pools are very nice. However, very disappointed to find that, despite what is advertised, there is no hike beforehand in the canyon, but a bus that takes you there 😤, which totally changes the experience and is not at all eco-friendly. Too expensive for what it is; in the end, I much preferred Reykjavegur hot springs northwest of Selfoss.
Not really a hike as such - just a great fun and very relaxing experience in a fantastic location followed by a little trip to a waterfall - loved everything about it and particularly our wonderful guide grandma toto wo I wanted to kidnap and adopt 😀
I would highly recommend this trip. The guide was funny, friendly and knowledgeable. The canyon hot pools were blissfully relaxing.
It was fantastic! I loved the canyon! The entire set up was beautiful and very well thought out. The water temperature was perfect. The guide was very nice.
My daughter and I got extremely lucky and were the only two people on our tour so we had the entire place to ourselves. It was magical! They do provide towels and there is a changing area. It was raining so we didn’t do the hike. Our guide let us have more time in the pools instead which was even better. There are 3 different pools at varying temperatures. Since it is a natural hot spring the water temp varies. The warmest pool was only about 95F but it was comfortable on a chilly summer day.
This was a wonderful experience with a wonderful guide. We had a small group which made it even more special. It was glorious to be out in nature in the baths.
The Canyon Baths are one of the most interesting places I have ever been to and I have traveled a lot in my 73 years. The experience of seeing this huge Canyon, rocks and rock formations was truly unique. It didn't hurt to have a great guide who described the surroundings in detail for us. Thank you Freyr for guiding us.
I would throughly recommend this experience. We were fortunate that we were the only ones on the tour so we had the pools to ourselves. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable without being overbearing. An experience worth booking.
One of our favourite geothermal baths we visited in Iceland. We met our friendly guide at the hotel and we made the 15 min drive to the private Canyon Baths. There are 60 or so steps down to the baths. The landscape surrounding the baths is very, very private! So peaceful and quiet. We were fortunate to have the entire space to ourselves as we were the last tour of the day. The dressing rooms were clean, dry and warm. Our guide checked in on us a couple of times and served us a couple of beverages along the way. The admission fee was appropriate for this visit. We stayed for approximately 90 min. +++ Experience. Enjoy Iceland!
What a relaxing trip this was. Just my wife and I. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history and geology of the area. The hike was actually very short so we had a lot of time to spend in the hot pools. Really enjoyed it.
