The hike to Humantay Lagoon is one of the most picturesque one day tours we offer in Cusco. This tour will take you on a journey through the Andean towns of Limatambo and Mollepata, where the native Quechua people keep the Inca traditions alive. Hike up the 90 minute mountain trail to the shores of the lagoon, and enjoy one of the most stunning views of an Andean valley found in the region. On a clear day the breathtaking waters of the turquoise lake reflect the snow capped peaks of its glacial mountain, Humantay. Leaving you with some of the best photos and memories you will find from a one day Cusco tour!

Itinerary
Our staff will come to pick you up at your hotel at 5:00 a.m. we will board our private transportation to travel northwest of the city of Cusco, to the town of Mollepata. This trip shows the exuberant valley of the Apurímac River. In this small and picturesque town we will have a well-deserved breakfast to fill us with energy, then we will continue our trip to the starting point of the hike to Soraypampa, which is around 3,900 m.a.s.l. After a short break, we will start our journey towards Humantay Lake located at 4,180 m.a.s.l, after the ascent of 1 hour and 20 minutes, we will be able to appreciate the wonderful Humantay Lagoon and on the other side the Imposing Snowfall of Salkantay, after the explanation of our tour guide and take photos, we will have a time to walk around the lagun and return to Mollepata, where will have to have our buffet lunch with beautiful panoramic views and then be transferred to the city of Cusco, arriving at 4:00 p.m. approximately. Very good choice! The place is beautiful and the service was good! The only thing to improve would be locomotion! It had no good heating and the driver drove very fast. Everything else spectacular

All the tours we made with the agency Machu Picchu Viajes Peru were unforgettable and Laguna Humantay was no different. Laguna Humantay is a magical place, walking ascent an average of an hour and a half the view of the lagoon and the reflection of the glacier in the turquoise waters is spectacular an excellent experience.

The Humantay lake is beautiful. However, the climbing is quite hard if you are not used to this attitude (4200 meters above the sea level). Make sure the guide has an oxigen balloon with him. I would recommend to take this company, they include horses for the way up and hiking poles, it make the climbing much easier and pleasant, good service and good organization.
