Hula Lesson on Maui (Basics)

Amazing class! Highly recommend especially for $20. It’s located in a mall so you have to look for the place and has free parking.

I had such a fun time learning a hula dance. I thought the class would be mostly children, but there were men and women of all ages which was nice. The instructor was fun, patient, knowledgeable, and his instructions were easy to follow. I’m glad I booked this activity, and definitely recommend it. The self-tour of the museum was very educational and informative. I’m a sucker for gift shop items, so purchased a nice necklace and kukui nut bracelet. I like that they have kits for sale to make jewelry to duplicate their classes.

My husband was working so I went solo. It was fun to meet and dance with other people in the class! The instructor was very knowledgeable and taught us many traditional steps. Through story, we learned choreography, then performed several sequences in a full dance. We were able to take pictures and videotape what we learned! I also enjoyed checking out the small "museum" adjacent to the dance floor that featured traditional clothing and instruments. Next time we visit Hawaii, I want to take my daughters with me to this dance class!

This was such a fun experience to do together as family! We had a very large family reunion group made up of all ages, and it was engaging for all of us, ages 3-88! The instructor gave a brief explanation of hula and was clear with her instructions and calls as we danced, so it was a successful experience for all of us! We walked around the side rooms after our class and checked out the cool displays of traditional cultural outfits and instruments!

We had the best time today with our extended family- 14 people ranging from 4-88 years old! Our teacher was so fun and the dance we learned made us feel the true Hawaiian spirit. Even my 12 year old grandson who doesn’t like much of anything loved it! I highly recommend it!!

Well worth the experience! The teacher was well organized and demonstrated great. It was awesome to actually learn a song and its meaning. Loved it!

Our hula lesson at the Oni Cultural Center was FANTASTIC! My friend and I had a 1 hour lesson that was very reasonably priced and conducted in a bright, clean environment. Instructor Kalai was engaging and encouraging. She included information about the history of Hawaiian dance and the meaning of the movements she taught us. Touring the "Migrations" exhibit and seeing the various regalia and instruments of the Hawaiian and neighboring islands was an added bonus! Would do it again in a heart beat! This was such a great cultural experience. The museum dresses are beautiful without being too overwhelming (can do in about 30 minurts, a little longer if you read everything). Our instructor was wonderful, dance is taught at a level that anyone (from 5 to 99 years of age) can enjoy. My five year old was engaged the whole time and better understands the talent of the hula dancers we have seen and my husband said it "broke his brain in a good way" figuring out what look like basic steps. I would highly recommend.

Amazing experience. We had a ton of fun and the dance was explained along with the lyrics. It was a treat to learn the culture and really walked away with an appreciation and understanding of the dance

Brought my daughter in law with my two granddaughters. It was a great class! We loved the lesson!!! Super fun! (Our instructor was FABULOUS! Then we went to watch the hula performance at the Wailea to watch our instructor perform. That was amazing too! If you’re in wailea on a Tuesday, highly recommend the performance! Impressive!
