An amazing kayak trip
We thoroughly enjoyed the Horseshoe Bend kayak tour with petroglyph viewing with Jeff Aylward. Jeff took us 10 miles down the Colorado River, all the way through Horseshoe Bend to Lee’s Ferry. It was an amazing trip, and we got a super close look at the canyon and river. Jeff explained how the canyon was formed and talked about how it’s still changing today. We also learned about the environment and the animals that live there.
It’s easy to chat when you’re kayaking for 10 miles, and Jeff is so knowledgeable about many different things. His kayaking and outdoor skills are clear, but it’s also obvious that he loves what he does every day, and it’s contagious. A 10-mile kayak ride might seem like a lot, but Jeff let us take the lead and didn’t push the pace. We really enjoyed floating along the river, stopping to see the indigenous petroglyphs, and we even took a short hike to see how rainwater changes the canyon’s landscape. We learned why rock in the canyon is different colors and followed the old water lines of the canyon. We spotted a big horned sheep, wild horses, and three blue herons on our way down the river. We highly recommend doing a guided tour of the canyon instead of kayaking alone because we learned so much and got to meet new people along the way.

Wow! This was a really great experience!!
Wow wow wow! This was really my favorite excursion in America! I was eventually alone with the guide, but this was a great experience. He is a geologist and knew so much about how everything originated and showed me the most beautiful places! While kayaking, we also did hikes, and he told us everything about the area, the history, and the origin. In the meantime, we had very nice conversations about America itself and he gave me all sorts of nice tips for my further trip. I am super satisfied with this excursion and would recommend it to everyone!

Epic trip through Horseshoe Bend. He also takes some amazing photos!
This was such an epic activity. Guide was extremely informative. Knowledgable about the geological, botanical and human history if the river canyon. Kayaking the Colorado took us upriver and I interacted with them several times before booking. They were extremely helpful. You could use them to drop you off in the canyon but having a guide to ask questions about the canyon, to guide you on the best angles to take and to assist if you flip was priceless. Jeff knew when to talk and when to just let us soak in the experience. I cannot recommend him enough!
