Horseback Riding in Bijagual Waterfall

Everyone here is incredibly nice. The horses were gentle and the scenery is absolutely beautiful! The horses take you to the area above the waterfall. You have to hike down a winding set of natural steps to reach the waterfall. It’s enough of a hike to remind me how out of shape I am. The hike is well worth the view. The hike back up to the horses is unkind to old knees but definitely doable. The tour then takes a quick 5 minute horseback ride to the spring fed natural pools that feed the waterfall. The swim is cold and refreshing and your legs definitely appreciate it. From there the horses take you back to the original meeting place. I can’t say enough about how happy we were with our guide, the horses or the overall experience. How our guide is capable of doing this multiple times per day is impressive. Bring extra water and your camera! Pura Vida!

We had a great time on the horseback riding tour. It was about 45 min to a very rigorous about half mile hike to the waterfall. We took some pics and then hiked back. It would have been nice to go in the water then, but the waterfall was too dangerous. The hike back was pretty uphill but after the hike, we got on the horses for a short ride to some relaxing pools off the waterfall where we went swimming and jumped into the water. The kids loved it. We then took the horses back to the starting place. The person organizing the trip, Alexander, was great and arranged a lunch for us in the local town. Overall, it was a great experience. Our kids were 9, 12 and 14 and they all had a wonderful time. The horses were very sweet with the kids. My daughter absolutely loved her horse, Pepe.

This tour included a great horseback ride in the mountains and a wonderful hike to the waterfall. Diego was an awesome guide!

The guides were friendly. Had a great time on the horses and the of course the hike down to the water fall was great! (It would be considered difficult) we wore chacos and Tevas and did well. The natural pool was the high light. Had fun cliff jumping and was nice to cool off.

Overall, the tour was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I truly can’t express how friendly everyone was. We booked this tour through L.A. who is a part of the Costa Rica Tour Office. She is incredible and was always there when we needed her or had questions. The horseback riding tour was so great. There was a guide that went with us the entire time and it was a private tour which just our family. We did a 40 minute horseback ride to a great spot for photos and to take in the views and then did a 40 minute hike that brought us even closer to the huge and beautiful waterfall. Then, we hopped back on the horses and stopped at a waterfall “pool” where we jumped off of the rocks and swam to cool off. It was perfect and stunning. Then we went on the horses to get back to the stables and then went to lunch. Alex was amazing and our guide was fantastic as well. Highly recommend. Great time.

It was a great experience!!! I highly recommend you book it!! Alex was great and his employees very helpful. Horses new the route and even my 5 yr old had fun riding on the horse.

In love with the biodiversity of Bijagual, during the whole trails we found different species of fauna and flora, and of course the amazing waterfall!

Excellent and beautiful but the hiking is not for the weary or weak. Be prepared for steep elevations and many steps. My Apple Watch clocked us at 16,000 steps. Our guide was patient with me.

Riding a horse on those trails was an amazing experience, but what I love the most was to meet the natural pools, this is a place that people don't have to miss.

Wanted to disconnect from reality I found the best place to achieve that, and it was this gorgeous place, I really enjoy those trails to the Bijagual Waterfall.
