We decided to do the 5.5 hour Hiroshima Highlights tour because it had the must-see landmarks of Hiroshima and Miyajima and it allowed us to leave Osaka at a reasonable time in the morning and get back to Osaka around dinner time. Our guide and Hiroshima-expert Gordon Michasiw reached out the day before to confirm the tour and sent me the link for the meeting point which was really helpful in the morning rush in a city we have never been and navigated around. Gordon was very knowledgeable, kind, easy to talk to, answered all our questions, and made sure to get us back to our train on time! We have done several tours (in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka) on this trip and this was the one I will remember the most. Gordon took us to a restaurant on Miyajima Island to try the famous Miyajima oysters. They were by far the best oysters we have ever had. We were able to see highlights of Hiroshima and Miyajima in 5.5 hours and would do this again if we were short on time. Our regret is that we didn’t spend more time in these two locations but we are already planning our return trip and will be trying our best to connect with Gordon who was the best guide ever. Highly recommend the tour and Gordon, if you are lucky enough to get him as your guide for the day.

Itinerary
The Dome, once a graceful sight, was left in ruins by the heat rays and shock waves of the atomic bomb. Although there were calls for its demolition during the reconstruction of the city, the A-bomb Dome, which tells the story of the damage caused by the atomic bomb, was left behind as a legacy of humanity.
There is a cenotaph to comfort the spirits of the atomic bomb survivors at a place overlooking the A-bomb Dome.
The museum tells the story of Hiroshima and its people before the atomic bombing, and the impact of the bombing on them. The archives quietly tell the story of Hiroshima as it was on that day.
Take a ferry to Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine.
Go to the shrine floating on the sea. The vermilion shrine is a beautiful sight against the blue of the sea.
The approach to Itsukushima Shrine is lined with many stores, making it a shopping street. Visitors can enjoy various gourmet specialties of Hiroshima

We went on the 5.5-hour Hiroshima tour with our guide, Euji, and it was a truly memorable experience. Euji was very knowledgeable about the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial area, and he guided us through the museum with great care and respect. The museum was both chilling and emotional, but absolutely a must-see for everyone visiting Hiroshima. We also really enjoyed our visit to Miyajima, Itsukushima Shrine, and the beautiful torii gates. You must ask for Euji — he made our day so memorable. It was a well-organised and meaningful tour, and we would highly recommend it.
Gordon really looked after us - he was really good at explaining the history & events that led up to the bombing, & the devastation that ensued. Also had many stories about life in Japan. Being originally from Canada he was so easy to understand. Would highly recommend this tour especially with Gordon.
Gordon was a fantastic guide he tailored everything to suit our needs & time constraints. His broad knowledge & historical descriptions were informative & interesting. We had a great day. Highly recommend this tour.
This tour is amazing - a must do if you visit Hiroshima. Gordon our guide was so knowledgable on Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. He was very friendly, looked after us so well and we learnt so much about the area and an added bonus of learning a lot about Japanese culture. He went out of his way to show us the fastest return to the cruise terminal. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. Thank you Gordon.

We had a wonderful day with Gordon, seeing both the Peace Museum and Miyajima. It was so nice to see both in the short time that we had. Gordon was very knowledgeable and we would highly recommend him and this tour!
Amazing guide Gordon catered to our needs perfectly. He was fun, friendly, informative with great local knowledge and interesting facts. With english as his first language it made it really easy for us to learn more in short time. The Peace park and museum is something all humans should experience and reflect on and Miyajima just a special unique place. Highly recommend
Our travel guide Gordon was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He had many engaging stories and it felt like we had known him for years. It was a last minute trip that we had some constraints around but he was very flexible! Thanks for an awesome tour!
It was a remarkable tour—my family and I were inspired by the insightful information shared, and Gordon proved to be an exceptional guide. The experience was deeply emotional, yet delivered with the utmost respect. Additionally, Gordon customized the trip to ensure we returned to the cruise ship on time. 🙏🏽
