Have you ever dreamed to spend a unforgettable moment with huskies surrounded by incredible nature? On this hike, we take some dogs for a walk (or he takes you?) in the countryside, by the sea, surrounded by mountains view, up into our local forest. (We won´t see polar bears but we might see horses and sheeps.) After the walk, we will spend the second part of the visit with all the dogs at home, where you can take pictures, cuddle with the dogs and talk more about all the things the dogs do all year around.

The tour was amazing! Dogs are very friendly, energetic and lovable and they are members of the family. Interacting with 29 dogs was a truly inspiring experience. One of the best tours we ever did!

I can’t say enough about how this tour was the highlight of our visit to Iceland! My husband and I booked this excursion for ourselves and two of our granddaughters, ages 16 and 12. The couple invited us into their home so we could see how they lived and worked with their 29 beautiful huskies. Maria showed us several items that she knitted with goat hair and the dogs’ hair. Her husband showed us how they made the hair into yarn. We all wore supportive belts to which the dogs were hitched for the hike. The walk is great for your core muscles and legs! We will absolutely be talking about our experience for years to come!

This was so much more than I expected! Sure we met a bunch of dogs and went for a hike as promised but this family is so awesome and they care so much! Hearing about the development of their business model was inspirational and being able to see the whole process of the yarn spinning and knitting with it!!! WOW! I am a knitter so this was an incredible turn of events. then our host dropped my companion and I at a yarn shop I was going to search for. He parked and walked us to the door! This couple is fantastic and they deserve all the best! And of all the excursions we did this trip this was the easiest and least stressful pickup.

Run do not walk to book this tour. It was incredible and super fun. Who doesn’t love being greeted by 20 huskies? Gunni and Maura are the Owners. They choose which dogs will go on the hike via lottery so that each dog gets to participate equally. Each person doing the hike gets a harness around their waist with a bungee leach attached to a husky’s harness. This was a great way for the Husky to walk me, I mean me to walk the husky. Due to the harness, you are hands free with no need to hold a leash. We hiked as a pack with the Owner Gunni and a second dog handler. If your husky is too animated for you, they will choose a calmer dog for you to walk. All of the dogs are super friendly. The hike is easy with no major hills. We get a couple water breaks for the dogs and for us. Gunni shares a lot about each dog on the walk. If you’ve never walked a dog before, this is a great first experience. After the hike you will be shown around their home and get to see dog show ribbons and sledding trophies. You’ll get a great history about the dogs and responsible breeding practices. Spoiler: there is some cool knitted items to purchase, if you’ll like to. I bought a couple items. I highly recommend this tour. You will be pick up at the cruise port or in town. Just look for the person walking a husky. I just wish the experience was longer. I could have stayed there all day. Well worth the money!!

We did Hiking with Huskies and it was a very nice experience. We got picked up and dropped off in Akureyri which was very convenient. We had a lovely walk through the woods with our huskies and then spent some time at the house to get to know some of the other 30 huskies. It was interesting to see how different they were from each other! Gunni showed us how he was spinning husky fur, and Maria had some bequtiful hand knit items.

This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Iceland! Not only are you treated like family by the two-legged ones, but the four-legged ones also welcomed us into their pack. You can feel the joy of the huskies as soon as you meet them, and they love being cuddled. Our walk with the huskies was strenuous, but thanks to the special harness around the hips and the help of the owners, I was able to keep my husky Issey under control (which means I wasn't being dragged along). At the end, there was a big cuddle session with the huskies, and there is absolutely nothing more relaxing!
