This trip to the paramo is a must if you are into hiking and nature! This is a totally different ecosystem and deserves more attention. Gabriela was our guide and she was great, we couldn't have gotten a better guide. She is very knowledgeable, respectful and friendly. Beware, it can be challenging as you are reaching up to 12k feet if you are not used to high altitude. You will most likely get some rain and strong winds. Bring a long raincoat, thermal but lightweight clothing, waterproof hiking boots if possible (I brought regular hiking shoes and they were soaking wet and muddy at the end) and an extra pair of socks. Overall it is challenging but so worth it!
Great time seeing some of the Sumapaz páramo- a fabulous hike with great views. Stopped for a quality breakfast everything well organized with a friendly guide and driver
Juan was a terrific guide and very thoughtful. We weren’t experienced hikers and the trail is challenging but he kept a pace that was appropriate for us. The drive there was part of the adventure and the local farmer who accompanied us, along with his very sweet dogs, was an excellent host. I highly recommend if you want to see the true scope of Bogota and the breathtaking wilderness beyond.
10 out of 10 experience.was made feel like family by my guide excellent guy highly recommend
Beautiful walk, great guide, great conversation! Best breakfast i had in Bogota too :)
Rainiest day they’ve ever permitted the hike, according to my guide, yet it made it even more special because, of course, the paramo ecosystem revolves around the water cycle! You can’t be upset when you’re watching it work naturally, as intended! Also, my guide was extremely endearing, in-tune with my safety in the slick path, and very funny. I could not recommend this adventure more!
The trip up to the northern part of Sumapaz via a private trail was honestly such a cool experience. You get to wander through different types of forests and eventually hit a Valley, which is absolutely stunning. The hike itself isn't a technical struggle, but don't underestimate the altitude. Everything was super well-run. The transport was on point, and they kept us fueled with breakfast and snacks. One of the best parts was taking a breather with a local farmer’s family. They were really welcoming. Special thanks to Juan Sebastian our guide. He took the time to share interesting facts about the plants and had a great, infectious energy.
I had an incredible time on this tour, it was absolutely beautiful and all organized really well. I really recommend it !
A great 3+ hour hike with stunning scenery. Challenging uphill but worth the effort. Juan, our guide, was brilliant. He paced the walk so we were comfortable and told us lots of interesting stuff about the paramo ecosystem, the flora and fauna. We only had two days in Bogota and this trip had been recommended. No regrets!
