Man Mandir Ghat
20 min
Earlier known as Someswara Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat was built in 16th century CE by Raja Man Singh of Amer and was renamed after him. He also built a magnificent palace here and is known for its exquisite ornate window carvings. It is now maintained by Archaeological Survey of India. One can get a panoramic view of all the ghats of Varanasi from the terrace of this palace. An observatory, popularly called as Jantar Mantar, is established atop the Man Singh Palace in 1710 CE by Sawai Jai Singh II.
Situated on the western bank of River Ganga, the ghat is dotted with many temples including Rameshwara Temple, Sthuladanta Vinayaka and Someswara temples. Someswara Temple is the exact replica of the Someshwara lingam in Somanath of Gujarat. Many Hindu devotees visit this Ghat to offer prayers to Someshwar.

The Dom community has traditionally been the custodian of cremation grounds. The Doms are keepers of the sacred fire, which is never allowed to die down, and are the cremators of the dead. The CHIEF cremation undertakers at Manikarnika and Harishchandra ghats in Varanasi are called ‘Dom Raja’. Also called ‘Choudhary’, they consider themselves descendants of Kalu Dom, who worked as a cremation undertaker during the regime of Raja Harishchandra, a king in ancient times. It is said that if the person being cremated is to achieve moksha, the fire for dead's funeral pyre must be taken from the Dom Raja.
Nepali Temple (Kathwala Temple)

Constructed in the 19th century A.D by the King of Nepal, the temple is made of terracotta, stone and wood and is replica of the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu
Manikarnika Ghat
30 min
Manikarnika is one of the holiest[1] cremation grounds among the sacred riverfronts (ghats), located on the Ganges, in the city of Varanasi in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. In Hinduism, death is considered a gateway to another life marked by the result of one's karma. It is believed that a human's soul attains moksha, and hence breaks the cycle of rebirth when cremated here

Manish the best!
This was really a special tour, complete of every kind of information about gods, temples and history of the city. Manish is not just a guide, we consider him as a friend now, so open and helpful. He made us try some tasty street food because we were curious about it and patiently listened and answered to all our questions.
Thank you Manish, you were the best!

Lively overview to central Varansi at night.
Since we arrived in Varanasi in the afternoon, we booked a “2-hours offbeat famous travel experience” tour for the evening. We met Manish at what felt like the epicenter of Varanasi nightlife, did a brief tuk-tuk jaunt, then the rest of the tour was on foot. Manish had to re-orient his usual plans for the tour because we happened to arrive on the day of a lunar eclipse, during which all the temples had to close. Some reopened late and some didn’t reopen at all. So some major temples could only be glimpsed from the outside. We were able to go into a big courtyard of an open temple (non-worshippers can’t go all the way inside) and watch a lively throng of congregants do very enthusiastic songs and chants. We also got a great feel of the street scene and shops, and Manish provided interesting and friendly commentary all the way. I said I needed some cheap disposable footwear for Holi, and he took me into a shop where we quickly found some flip-flops for only 200 rupees. At the end of the tour, he offered to call us an Uber back to our hotel to make it easy and safe for us. Excellent service!

Very special experience, clear explanation
Very special experience, clear explanation Manish took me and my sister (both 25 years old) on the spiritual tour in Varanasi in the evening time and it was very special. He explained everything about the spiritual culture in Varanasi very well. We also got to see the crematorium, with again great explanation on the rituals and meanings around the cremation. The spiritual tour gave us a deeper insight into the city, but also into the meaning of hinduism voor people in Varanasi. We would really advice going on this tour if you are spiritually interested, and/or spiritually connected to Varanasi. It enriched our travel in a way we could not have done without Manish :) Manish was (next to being a good tour guide) also a nice guy: he knew how to find calm spots to explain things and make us feel ease, and we got to know him as a person as well which was nice!

A colorful afternoon in Varanasi
Manish was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. He showed us some of Varanasi’s most colourful local markets, where the city’s vibrant heart beats. We spent a couple of hours in his company and his kindness made our tour even more enjoyable!
