Itinerary
Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House
Admission included20 min
You will enter the house that the San Diego Ghost Hunters, tell us is currently the "most active", location in SD. Even more active then the more famous ones. First floor and courtyard entry is included!
This is the house where people would come to die as it was a hospital of sorts with a dramatic history. Our guests have experienced being pushed around the house with a hand on their back when there is no one behind them and catching mysterious shapes on camera, lots of orbs here as well. Bring your camera! While we can't employ ghost or guarantee something will happen, things can and will occur we just don't know when.

Villa Montezuma Museum
20 min
You will go on the premise of the Villa, a museum that is closed at night.
Sometimes we go into the first floor drawing room and lobby. Get lucky! The staff here considers it to be Enchanted.
But don't be fooled, if you read our reviews, this location is one of many people's top, our presentation there is very well received and plus lots of eerie things have been captured by our guest lens.
You will see this location, which is haunted by 2 people who once lived there. Strangely enough, they say, it is the first person to live in the house and the last to live in the Villa Montezuma. Perhaps you will hear music from beyond or see a haunted artifact move.
Whaley House Museum
Admission not included10 min
You will see the Whaley House. NO GHOST TOUR GOES INTO THE HOUSE. The Whaley House is ran by a massive national corporation and it is a money printing machine for them. They have changed the history, layout and killed the spirits of the house in the interest of profit (ask any local ghost hunter and they'll tell you since the rearrangement activity is low or artificial). What was an amazing location is now a marketing machine. Still it does have history.
We do the original history at the location (not inside), not the corporate rewrite.
Find out how it all began with Yankee Jim and it's other doomed occupants. Get the, for lack of a better word, "Greatest Hits" tales at this location.
El Campo Santo Cemetery
10 min
What is a haunted tour without a graveyard? You will enter this location and be told the stories among the tombstones.
Back to where it all began. Old Town San Diego, El Campo Santo Cemetery has a long history of the macabre. Ghosts there are disturbed as their burial grounds have been disturbed many times. Strange figures still appear seemingly to glow and float above the ground.

Exceeded My Expectations
This tour was great! We attended Oct. 7th, 2026, in the care of our intrepid bus driver, Linda, and part time thespian, Archie, after dark at 7pm. While there were No paranormal experiences, to my knowledge, there was a really surprising wealth of history, primarily of the Villa Montezuma House (now museum), and the notorious Gaslamp District, including the Davis-Horton house, which is the oldest surviving structure in downtown! My husband and I spend a lot of time in San Diego, (we lived there for a few years as newlyweds, years ago), and didn't know about these (and other historic buildings and stories). There is very little walking, really, for those who may be concerned about that, and given the very high temperatures we've been experiencing, the minibus was very comfortably airconditioned. Linda, our bus driver, provided water ½ way through our tour. Archie, our guide, was very knowledgeable, personable, friendly, and often, funny, making this trip very enjoyable. For those old enough and interested in San Diego history, this was perfect. (This was no haunted house experience with costumed people jumping out at you with fake chainsaws! If you're looking for that, there are other tours/venues for that).

Wonderful Experience
Archie was an excellent story teller. It was one of the best ghost tours I've been on because you got to go inside some of the locations which was such a treat. The Villa Montezuma stop was amazing. I want to go back and do the full history tour of that one. The tour was also a nice mix of walking and bus so you got to cover a lot more of the area and see things up close. Our bus driver was fun too, he shared stories with us before the tour started. I would recommend this tour to everyone. It's much more history than scary which I enjoy.

Great way to learn a lot of history
We usually always take the ghost tour with the exception of Boston. It’s about the only way to actually learn a lot of history of the area. Pat was our God. She was fabulous and we got to see a very beautiful home called Villa Montezuma . Well worth going.

Pete is the best :)
I convinced my friend who is terrified of anything scary to come with me and it was a really fun and spooky experience! We learned a lot about the history and going in the buildings was so fun. Pete made the whole experience a blast and Ken the bus driver is a sweetheart make sure you bring cash for tips!

Pretty much exactly what...
Pretty much exactly what I expected. Unfortunately the old decorated bus was out of commission so we had just a normal shuttle bus that they just got. The host (Archie) was knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour was of historic nature, not a jump out at you kind of horror house, which I feel was properly described in the event details. If you enjoy history, and spooky stories this is for you.

Best Ghost History Walking Tour Ever - a Must
Meeting place is in Old Town by a cigar - wine shop and plaza. Endpoint is Old Town cemetery near by. Across the street is Cafe Coyote if you want to eat before hand. Cafe Coyote is our restroom before the tour. No restrooms available on this two hour tour. We ride in a Coffin on Wheels trolley. Handicap Accessible. Driver is Marina? whom handles the walkers and wheelchairs. What's great about this tour is ride in a spooky decorated trolley, friendly staff, entrance into the haunted mansions, and the best tour guide Captain Pete whom speaks loudly and clearly. He is really knowledgeable, loves to answer questions especially about the evolution of the California state flag and antiques. He is so funny, constantly telling dad jokes and animated acting. See the Whaley House, enter the Horton Grand Hotel, enter the Gaslamp Museum of the Davis- Horton House with its tuberculosis hospice history and antiques. Enter the beautiful Queen Anne style mansion Villa Montezuma, home of famed Paris pianist Benjamin Henry Jesse Francis Shepard built without electricity whom only lived there one year. He thought he was channeling previous composers. No photos ; no touching anything in the house. Handicap might need assistance going up the outside stair steps. Photos outside permitted in the dark showcasing its beautiful imported stain glass windows.Last stop at Old Town graveyard El Compo Santos cemetery. Little walking and trolley stops right in front. Trolley ends here. You're free to stay and wander about the cemetery and walk away at anytime.
Highly recommend this Ghost tour, simply the best and the original. Choose this one if your only doing one ghost tour!

Good Tour
Good tour, lacked depth, were able to go into 2 of the haunted houses and 1 hotel, but not the Whalen house. Great tour guide, funny and witty. Would love it to include a little more for the price.
