Alex was a very well informed tour guide of local cuisine in the area and even shared recommendations for surrounding areas for those of us planning day trips outside of Halifax. The food we tasted was delicious. I highly recommend this tour.
It was canceled since I was the only one that signed up. I was very disappointed. I think that is not a good reason to cancel.
Hi Bende, Sorry, we had to cancel your booking. We unfortunately no longer host tours for one. We used to do them, but after receiving feedback from other solo travellers we have hosted over the years, we decided that not doing them made sense.
A fun experience with very good food and information about Halifax along the walk. Comfortable pace to walk. One restaurant was slow serving us but the others were good. I would have liked the guide to be a bit more outgoing but he gave lots of info along the way.

Alex gave is an excellent food tour with 4 stops. The first was for chowder, then a delicious lobster roll. Next a fish patty followed by a visit to a chocolate and ice cream shop. We had 3 total people in our group so we got lots of attention while walking around the Halifax where. I would highly recommend this food tour.

Alex, our guide, is one of the most knowledgable food tour guides we've ever had. He happily shares his experience of the Halifax food scene and his love of this city. The dishes he showcased on the seafood tour were a delicious bowl of seafood chowder, a perfect example of a fresh lobster roll, one of the best brunch dishes ever in a re-imagined fish cake with a poached egg and salad, plus decadent hot chocolate and artisanal chocolates. We learned about the city's waterfront neighbourhoods and the history of the food scene in Nova Scotia. We chose to try the wine pairing and so enjoyed a Tidal Bay wine we had heard a lot about. Everything was just what we wanted. Take this tour. It's great.
Fabulous tour. The food was wonderful with generous portions. Come hungry. Alex is very knowledgeable about food and Halifax. We have taken numerous food tours and this is one of the best. Small group and well worth it.
We recently took the morning food tour with Alex. We started at a downtown hotel, which was an easy place to meet. We stopped at four places to eat, all of which were excellent. This included chowder, a lobster roll, fish cake, ice cream, and delicious chocolates. The portion sizes are large (a whole lobster roll), providing a good value. Alex is very knowledgeable about food and has chosen excellent things to sample. The walk from the first stop to the second was pretty long (15-20 minutes). My only suggestion would be to break up the walk a little more. Alternatively, slowing down the pace a little and providing some commentary about the sights along the boardwalk would accomplish the same thing. While we always enjoy food tours for the local cuisine, it's also nice to learn a little about the area as well.
The absolute BEST food tour we've EVER been on! One of our favorite excursions when we travel are food tours. Alex's tour will let you sample the best dishes in Halifax. He's so knowledgeable and passionate about food! The tour is well-paced, relaxing and such an enjoyable stroll on the boardwalk. Highly recommend -- you won't be sorry OR HUNGRY!
