Half-Day Santorini Private Tour

The meeting place was the top of the cable cars in Santorini. My BF and I arrived early, so we walked around and did a little shopping. I got a text from the tour operator asking if we could start at 1:30 instead of at 1 pm. I responded and asked if we could start on time as expected. Leta came by a few minutes later. She explained that the guide had been delayed. She was cordial and apologetic. We spoke to her for a while, then she said our guide was ready. She escorted us through the shopping area to a road where our van had finally arrived. Our guide, Akis, also apologized for the delay, but assured us we would see ALL of Santorini that we wanted to see. He delivered on that promise! Akis knew of shortcuts and back roads that allowed us to avoid the crowds and get the very best vantage points of the island. We were so impressed with his knowledge of the people and the history of Santorini. He told us he grew up there and had inherited his Grandfather’s home. He expects that same home to be passed on to his children. Akis also took us to a beautiful restaurant right on the water, where we enjoyed genuine Greek cuisine and very fresh fish! We got the best pictures of all the sights. We later learned about “GT”, or Greek Time, from another guide. It seems being “on time” in Greece is anywhere from a half hour to two hours from the proposed time! A cultural difference to be sure. A fabulous tour and would highly recommend!

Astri & Sara met us at upper cable car location in Fira to start & end our day in a well-maintained Mercedes-Benz van. They provided excellent customer service, history, and little fun facts. They ensured the tour was personalized, but we loved all their ideas. Sadly the weather brought an unexpected wintery day, so that limited us a little, but the sun was out for Oia! They were worth every minute and every euro! Hopefully we will return and will contact them to help us find new amazing locations to explore!! Thank you so much!!

Georgios was great, he was friendly and knowledgeable of the island! We were late to start because of weather difficulties and he waited for us and made sure we got the full experience. Took us to local spots. Highly recommend.

We shared a half-day private road trip of Santorini with the charming and knowledgable local, George. By the end of it we were wanting him to come visit us in Oakland, California! In other words, he was great and we would recommend seeing his version of this beautiful island.

We just had a wonderful private afternoon tour with George (Georgious) from AA Santorini Travel. In addition to being personable and charming, he was very knowledgable about the beautiful island as we hoped. He was a great ambassador for Greek culture and we enjoyed hanging out with him. Highly recommended.

It was a great tour of the island. Our driver Zeus was excellent and was great that he could also speak Spanish for my in-laws who do not speak English.
