Half day Mountain Tour in Nosara

Paul and Leandro were great. Juan at the coffee tour was extremely gracious and we had a great time touring his farm + the lunch was delicious. Fantastic experience all around. Highly recommended!

This ATV tour was one of the best things we did in Costa Rica hands down!! The views are incredible! The road is fun to drive an ATV on… it’s windy and bumpy but never scary. The stop at Juan’s house to see his farm/property and to have lunch is wonderful! His property is gorgeous. You see so many foods he harvests and lunch was delicious! Better than any traditional soda around!! The ATV ride back is even more fun as you ride through water and down the hills. Paul was the best, chill guide ever. We would absolutely go again and again. 10 stars!!

Our family is visiting Nosara for spring break and coordinated this tour with local Costa Rican Macho. When we arrived he explained Macho in Costa Rica means blonde hair and that no one calls him by his real name Dennis. Macho is very knowledgeable, friendly and a great host. We drove through the rural town and across the dry river beds to get to the waterfalls. half way we stopped and served us fresh coconut water. It was refreshing & delicious. Straight out of a coconut is the way to go! We arrived at El Flaco’s and walked down steep block stairs to the waterfall. Since it’s the dry season, the waterfalls were not as massive but still fun to swim in the water and go under the waterfall. He served us fresh cut pineapple too. I would suggest waiting to go when it’s getting into the rainy season to get a true waterfall experience. Afterwards we walked back up and met El Flaco for a demonstration of the sugar cane he grows. We cranked the cane down to squeeze out the juice and then drank it fresh with mandarin lime (and a shot of moonshine if you wanted it. Overall a great experience. I would definitely recommend Macho Tours for any ATV trip. He was friendly, supportive and a great host!

This is a must do tour. We were a group of 4 all over 60 and one without any Atv experience. Macho is a great host and made sure we all were safe the entire day. A fun ride up the mountain enjoying the views, educational tour an of the farm with Juan and lunch and then ride back down. The highlight was driving fast through the river while Macho filmed us at the end. Macho is an excellent host and provided water and fruit. Do buy the kerchief from him for dust. Wear closed toe shoes. It’s hot so t-shirt and shorts work well and expect to get dusty and dirty. We all would recommend and do again! Thanks Macho!

We had an amazing time with Macho on our tour! He is extremely friendly and a great guide. Awesome photographer. Juan's farm tour was really educational and the property is breathtaking. They were able to prepare a vegan meal for us at lunch too. Highly recommend this experience.

4.5 hours total time. First hour spent driving up to the coffee plantation. On the journey up,we stopped once and were given ice cold coconut water straight from the coconut to drink - delicious! At the plantation Juan gave an extremely educational tour of the farm where the grew sugar cane, coffee, cocoa and oranges. We were then treated to fresh orange juice fresh coffee and Juan’s wife made us a fabulous lunch with local staples. Finally it was time to head back down, but along the way, we did some driving through a shallow river, which was an absolute blast. Despite being a small family run business, Macho and his team really know how to give you a great experience. Highly recommended!

Must-Do Experience in Nosara! Macho ATV Tours was absolutely incredible. Transportation picked us up from Fishing Nosara and dropped us off at Macho’s—everything was seamless and very professional. Macho is an amazing guide and storyteller, and his English is excellent, which made the experience even better. We took the lower route up to the waterfall and made several awesome stops along the way, including fresh coconut drinks and spotting wildlife along the river. We then made it to El Flaco’s sugar cane hut, where we hiked down to the waterfall for a refreshing dip—an unforgettable experience. Afterward, we headed back to the hut for a fascinating talk about sugarcane and a tasting. Fair warning: the moonshine will light you on FIRE! 🔥 The ride back through the river was a blast and the perfect way to end the tour. We even received a special gift at the end. This is truly a must-do adventure in Costa Rica. Thank you, Macho, for an amazing time—we’ll never forget it!

This was absolutely a 10/10 experience. Could not have asked for a better experience. Macho led us on a scenic mountain ATV tour, which in itself was AMAZING and then we got to our destination, Don Vidal’s farm - my husband and I had so much fun learning about the farm, what they grow and finally finished with a delicious home cooked Costa Rican lunch cooked right on the farm. Cannot speaking more highly of our experience, can’t wait to come back to Nosara again one day and go on another tour with Macho. Thanks again for an awesome excursion!

The farm was beautiful and the food was delicious. Our tour was a bit disappointing though because somehow they were not aware of our reservation. They rallied and found a guide, Marta was very nice, but the lack of preparation was apparent and it felt like we were an afterthought - I do not like to dramatize because everyone was very nice - but it felt like they were on the tour and just talked amongst themselves at lunch. A lot of money for this experience.

Our ATV tour with Macho was amazing. He is very friendly and accommodating. The ride up to the coffee plantation was fun, but not too long. Our time at the plantation was very informative and the food was excellent. We really appreciated that Macho took photos of us both with our phones and his. He sent us his photos after the tour including some great action shots. Highly recommend this tour!
