disappointing trip, feeling gypped

This was a very disappointing trip. Although we paid the fare, we were led to isolated locations to view "local precious merchandise." My friend and I felt that most of the trip was a waste of time, being tricked to buy things. The only thing I do appreciate is visiting a location to view a Mayan performance. Don't buy things at the store they took you. Getting things at the port souvenir shops is cheaper.

Fantastic

You are free, in consultation, to decide what you want to do. We have chosen nature and history. Have driven all over the island but you can also choose shopping

5 out of 5 stars ⭐️

Our guide was Brandon, a very kind and super communicative person. He took us to see what Cozumel is really like. There are many cultural or tourist places that can be appreciated. Learning about the history and ceremony of the island was very interesting. The people on the island are very friendly. The visit to the cenote makes you want to know more about the cenote system.

This your was great. The three stops we made were wonderful and provided an excellent overall experience of the island. The Mayan performance was awesome. Our guides were very accommodating. I recommend it especially if you only have half a day to tour Cozumel

Good variety on this tour

This was one of several offerings for a day tour in Cozumel from many different operators. I chose it as it had a couple different stops. My preference in tours is to get a good historical and cultural overview of the region and get to experience a few different parts of the area. The tour operator will send you instructions on how to get to their agents, whether it's from the airport or the cruise port. We went to Cozumel via cruise and be aware that you have to go through a somewhat serpentine path through a shopping area integrated into the port before getting to the main road outside the port. From there you will have to cross a street where Visit to Cozumel's people will be waiting for you outside a retail outlet. We connected with our guide, Hugo. My group of four was joined by another family of seven and the two groups were split into an SUV and a minivan and we headed to downtown Cozumel. Hugo can speak both Spanish and English fluently and will use what you prefer. As some in our party did not speak English, we told him to use Spanish. I am primarily an English speaker, but know some Spanish so I was able to capture some of the information, and when I needed to I could ask questions in English and Hugo would accommodate me. You will get some free time downtown to explore and visit souvenir shops. After that, we went to a facility where there were several exhibit stations to show off a native dance, and for tastings of tequila , honey, chocolate, and tacos. Not going to lie here, this part of the tour is clearly very structured to try and sell things to you. But I will also say they were not high pressure and you don't have to buy anything. The samples were all interesting, along with stories about them. I don't know how authentic the dance was, but the tacos were the real deal, real Mexican street tacos. I've read that some think the tequilas were scams, but if that were true I'd have figured the Mexican government would have shut these guys down because whatever you've heard of some other substances, tequila is one substance the country is proud of and wants to control and protect. After that it was time for some fun and Hugo will adjust the rest of the tour to your preferences. You can go straight to a beach club where you can buy food and drinks, relax on beach loungers, and swim. Or, you can first go to a different beach where there's a good seafood restaurant and buy lunch there before heading to the beach club. That's what we did and the food was very good. The beach club was also very nice. You don't have to pay anything extra to get in; Visit to Cozumel must have an arrangement with the facility. Normally on a Mexican beach you'll get hit up for money to use loungers and a palapa (umbrella) but they had plenty here for our use. The beach at this club had been prepared so that it was free of the sargasso seaweed that seems to be all over Mexican beaches in the summer now. We had about an hour here before heading back to the port. I found Hugo and his team very friendly and helpful. They were on time, made sure we got back on time, drove safely, and gave us some options along the way. It was a hot day and they provided water and beers for everyone to enjoy. I normally prefer my guide to provide some information on history and culture, which might have happened but I may have missed details on due to it being in Spanish. I was a little worried about the sales, but quite pleased they were not high pressure. I also found the tour reasonably priced for what it included. If I were to take this tour again, I would have encouraged my family to finish lunch a bit faster so we could spend longer at the beach club.
