Mother and Daughter Trip to Cozumel, Mexico

Gerson was our tour guide. He was right on time and really adjusted the itinerary to meet the needs of my mother and I. We went straight to the ruins and then he showed us the Eastern shoreline that contained multiple turtle sites And was absolutely beautiful. He was very knowledgeable in all aspects of Cozumel. He then took us to a tequila tasting and showed us The monuments. He was very gracious and accommodating. He even had a cooler of drinks in the trunk of the car for us during our time with him. Would definitely recommend this experience for anyone. We were concerned that we took this experience coming off a cruise ship, but Gerson definitely worked with our schedule to be back to the ship with plenty of time left over.

A wonderful private excursion in Cozumel – absolutely recommended!

We had a truly wonderful private excursion in Cozumel and were thrilled from start to finish. The organization in advance was already uncomplicated and reliable. On-site, we were warmly welcomed and immediately felt comfortable and well taken care of. It was especially nice that the excursion was private and designed completely individually. This allowed us to enjoy everything in peace, without time pressure and without the feeling of just having to "work through" a predetermined program. Our wishes were accommodated at all times. Our guide was extremely friendly, warm, attentive, and competent. We not only saw beautiful places but also learned many interesting things about Cozumel, the people, and the culture. The atmosphere was relaxed and personal the entire time – exactly what you want from a private excursion. We enjoyed this day very much and took home many beautiful memories. Experiencing Cozumel in this personal way was something very special for us. Thank you very much for this wonderful day, the great care, and the warm hospitality! ❤️ We would book the excursion again at any time and can recommend it without reservation. 🌴☀️🇲🇽

Excellent trip to the Mayan Ruins.

JC was our tour guide, and his knowledge of history and passion were incredible. George at the ruins took the time to give us a deeper understanding of Mayan civilization as a culture. The stop at the beach with Elvis was a delight. Never have I eaten red snapper so good. The view didn't hurt. It was an excellent trip.

Visit Cozumel and JC!

Booking through the Viator app is so easy. We had a great time on our excursion. JC was our guide and he is absolutely wonderful. Would highly recommend him! He contacted us prior to the excursion providing information on where to meet for the pick up time. JC is knowledgeable and informative regarding the history of Cozumel and gave various tidbits of information that we would have never known without a guide. He was patient, courteous, and professional. My daughter and I, as two women visiting a foreign country, felt very safe and relaxed.

Best Historical Guide

Our guide Gearson and our driver were the absolutely the best! We had a difficult time finding the pick up place, but Gearson didn’t give up on us and we finally connected. In addition, he was very knowledgeable about the history of Cozumel and we learned so much.

Excellent private tour

Our family of four (2 teenagers) had a great tour with JC. He was warm and friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the island, having lived there his whole life, and shared great stories about its founding, culture, religious significance, economy, and natural resources. A fun and educational day, with a handful of stops for history, monuments, oceanside photos, and a private beach to relax and have lunch. JC was great!

Recommended for those who don't want to go alone, but there are guides available at the kay stops.

What we liked: Our guide was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable about the monuments in San Miguel. He also took us to a wonderful beach/restaurant on the east side of the island. What we disliked: The call for tips and the 'up-sell' we received at the Tequilla tasting. And also, being surprised with a different guide at the ruins, calling for yet another tip (though the local tour guide was knowledgeable, we just expected the tour would all be done by the same person). Our overall sense was that we could have just hired a car for a few hours and gone alone. So, this is an excellent tour for people who don't want to drive themselves. Otherwise, you have guides supplied at the main stops.

Operator response

Dear Denise, Thank you very much for your feedback, maybe you did not realize you are making the same review twice from different profiles. Unfortunately our guide can not guide you inside the arceological site in Cozumel. There are special requirements and the two syndicates that are there at the entrance of San Gervasio are the ones allowed to give tours inside. That is why our tour does include the fee and service for the extra guide and there is no need to tip because they get paid very well. They should also not ask actively for tip but that is unfortunately not is our hands and we are very sorry that you felt offended by your extra guide asking for it. The Tequila tasting is optional and we go there only if you ask for it. Your guide JC commented to me that he advised you accordingly. Rental cars or taking a taxi can be an alternative to taking a tour. But considering car rental fees, insurance fees, gas, entrance fees to the archeological site of 25 dollars per person, federal guide fee and entrance fees to the beach clubs that you pay per person when you are not in a tour, Viator fees of 25% and taxes will end up to the same amount you spend in a tour. I hope we could clarify your questions and wish you a nice stay in Cozumel. JC, Birgit & Gerson
