We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Shunsuke Moriyama, who we connected with on Japan Awaits. We wanted to see Mt Fuji, which can be unpredictable, and often fogged in. That was what happened, there was dense fog and we did not get to actually see it. However, Shun made the best of it for us. He was so well organized, so informative, very kind and patient. He brought us to/from Tokyo to Hokone via public transportation and that in itself was a great experience. We could not have done this without Shun's help! He gave us so much history and background along the way and taught us a lot about the sites we did get to see and overall about Japan. Shun is so good, great English and very well spoken. He could be teaching classes about Japan and its rich history! We truly appreciated our time with Shun and his big, warm smile only added to our positive experience!
Kumiko Wada san was very helpful, knowledgable and fitted things in to suit what we wanted to do We were not able to see mt Fuji because of the weather but had a lovely day anyway The scenery is beautiful and Hakone is worth a visit in its own right
Great experience! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We got to see amazing things (Historic checkpoint, Hakone shrine, the open air sculpture museum) and had a fantastic day.
This was a wonderful experience and we learned a lot about the area and its history. Our guide was knowledgeable and attentive making sure we had the fullest experience.
We thought the tour was a group tour and were delighted by having an English speaking guide all to ourselves! Yuka was very kind and patient and took time to answer all of our questions. She has very good English skills and we were able to communicate with her easily. We learned many things from her about Japanese culture and history. We saw so many wonderful places on this tour. Sadly, the weather did not favor us with a view of Mt. Fuji, so we will have to come back and retake the tour in the future.
First of all my low score is not bc of the guide. Kumiko was awesome! She was extremely informative and super sweet! The tour was 3-star bc of her. I did not think the tour was worth the cost. I was a solo traveler and coming from Tokyo. The name is Hakone tour from Tokyo but small print you have to pay additional if you are coming from Tokyo. Didn’t know that until the tour reached out to me while i was in Japan. First time booking a tour and felt like i was being taken advantage of. Yes included bullet train transportation, boat tour, gondola, and train. Not for $650. Don’t book this tour. Look for other options.
Our tour guide was prompt, friendly, polite, respectful, knowledgeable through out the tour. She made sure we made it to our destination safely.
Our tour leader Kumiko absolutely planned our tour around the things we love. It was jam packed with wonderful sight seeing and activities in beautiful places . She was kind and thoughtful of our needs. The day was filled with heavy rain and she adjusted things to work around this. Such a variety of sights like the modern art gallery, Shinto & Buddhist Shrines a ride across the lake in a pirate boat, a ride over the mountains in a gondola. Even a sushi lunch where the chef showed off his skills preparing individual meals with skill. The final visit was to the hot sulphur pools where I could soak my feet- so relaxing! It could have been a disastrous day, but Kumiko made it fun. Thankyou.
This Tour was so much fun, my sister and I came to Japan for the first time. Excited for the landmark of Mount Fuji and looking to learn about the history. Yusuke was our tour guide and he fantastic, had no troubles finding him at the train station. He was extremely knowledgeable about the culture and throwing in fun facts, considerate of our preferences. Would highly recommend this tour
We had a lovely day. Our guide, Izumi Aizawa, looked after us very well. We were lucky with the sunny weather and enjoyed beautiful views of Mount Fuji. We spent some time at the Hakone Outdoor Museum which has a fine collection of Henry Moore's work set among the cherry blossom in the most suitable setting along with works by many other sculptors including Japanese artists. The rest of the day was well organised too. We visited the fine, atmospheric shrine on the edge of the lake. We were fortunate to have such a well informed and experienced guide for the day.
