Voss is a municipality and a traditional district in Vestland county, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Vossevangen. Vossevangen is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes and fast-flowing whitewater rivers. This has led to its development as a notable center of skiing, water sports, skydiving, paragliding and other adventure sports. Every year in the last week of June the area hosts the Extreme Sports Week which is regarded as the world's premier extreme sports festival. Bømoen, the local airstrip, is home to Skydive Voss, one of the largest dropzones in Norway, as well as a gliding club. The rivers provide various levels of white water, attracting kayaking, rafting and river boarding. Kite surfing and para-bungee may be seen on lake Vangsvatnet. The ski area, to the north of the town, is accessible via a cable car, Hangursbanen.
Skjervsfossen is a big and beautiful waterfall not far from Voss. Skjervsfossen has two major drops and is in total 150 meter heigh. The stage at the parking is the most impressive part (the upper part) with a single drop of 60 meter.
Hardanger bridge is a suspension bridge across the Hardangerfjord. The bridge connects the municipalities of Ullensvang and Ulvik. It replaced a ferry connection between Bruravik and Brimnes, and thereby shortens the driving time between Oslo and Bergen. It is the longest suspension bridge in Norway. The bridge is 1,380 metres (4,530 ft) long, with a main span of 1,310 metres (4,300 ft).
Vøringsfossen waterfall is the 83rd highest waterfall in Norway on the basis of total fall. It lies at the top of Måbødalen valley in the municipality of Eidfjord. It has a total drop of 182 meters (597 ft), and a major drop of 163 meters (534 ft). It is perhaps the most famous waterfall in the Norway and a major tourist attraction on the way down from Hardangervidda to Hardangerfjord.
Eidfjord is situated at the end of the Eid Fjord, an inner branch of the large Hardangerfjord. The village of Eidfjord is a major cruise ship port of call. Eidfjord has several tourist sites, like the Sima Power Plant which is built into the mountain itself, the Måbødalen valley, and the Vøringsfossen waterfall. Large parts of the Hardangervidda (Europe's largest mountain plateau) are located in Eidfjord. The Hardangervidda Natursenter, a visitors centre and museum for Hardangervidda National Park, is located in Øvre Eidfjord. The 1,498-square-kilometre (578 sq mi) municipality is the 57th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Eidfjord is the 337th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 962.
The Hardangerfjord is the fourth longest fjord in the world, and the second longest in Norway. The fjord stretches 179 kilometres (111 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean into the mountainous interior of Norway along the Hardangervidda plateau. The innermost point of the fjord reaches the town of Odda. The history of the fjord goes far beyond its Viking history, back to the time of hunters on the surrounding mountains, and later on, farming along this fertile area which today is considered the "fruit orchard of Norway". Later the fjord became the birthplace for a large tourism influx to Norway, and in 1875 Thomas Cook started weekly cruise departures from London to the Hardangerfjord, due to its spectacular nature, glaciers, and grand waterfalls.
Steinsdalsfossen is one of the most popular waterfalls in Norway. The river Fosselvi drops down 48 meters and is special because you can walk behind the water veil. The flood of the river is quite consistent and is being fed by water from a serie of lakes from which Myklavatnet. Steinsdalfossen was already popular a hundred years ago, at the time of the emperor of Germany, Wilhelm II. He visited Steinsdalsfossen every year, until world war II began. Actually the waterfall is not that old: at the 17th century the river flowed west of Steinsdalsfossen. In 1699 “Øvsthus farm suffered great damage when the river flooded its banks”. The old river channel was closed off, perhaps as a result of great amounts of snow or an avalanche, and the water ran instead off the cliff.

Fantastic day-the sights were wonderful. Well organised and well timed tour. The guide Lorenzo was excellent knowledgeable, friendly and made everyone feel comfortable and enjoy the day
We had an absolutely wonderful experience on this nine hour tour and it was a great introduction to Bergen. The trip was in interspersed with great stops at waterfalls, the gondola, a farm, and a great bakery. The guide was wonderful and very entertaining with his stories of Norway, its history, the people, and experiences that he has had. We look forward to booking with this company again.
Great tour! Very informative. Our guide John was outstanding! Very educational!!!!!!!! The weather was not perfect but not a problem !
We enjoyed this tour. The view from the top of the gondola ws amazing. The three waterfalls were all so different and so beautiful. This was a wonderful day and was well worth it. Michael was friendly, funny and knowledgeable.
This tour was excellent! We had the best guide Wilda. And our small group was very fun. We enjoyed this tour a lot - woow so much beauty in one day! That's amazing! Highly recommend this tour if you have one more day in Bergen. You will see ones of the best waterfalls of Norway, enjoy the view of Norwegian fjords, mountains, tunnels etc.
We had an excellent guide and a nice variety of stops. We loved the gondola and waterfalls. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. My only critique is that I wish the description had stated exactly how much time would be spent in the vehicle - there was a lot of driving and I felt motion sickness from being in the back seat for part of the day. Perhaps I would have preferred a half day option, with a little less driving.
We were lucky enough to take our tour with John as our driver and guide. John is a very knowledgeable Norwegian who shared many interesting facts and anecdotes about Norway. His narrative made this tour come to life and as a result is a memorable experience for my husband and me. He is an excellent driver with excellent English language skills. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him.
Our guide/driver, Vilde, was outstanding. She narrated telling us lots of interesting history and geography as well as driving for 9 hours on very challenging roads. The scenery was fantastic-mountains, valleys, farms, sheep and goats. The gondola ride and scenery at the top of Voss were terrific. Best of all the magnificent waterfalls we visited. Highly recommend this trip.
John was an incredible tour guide! I really appreciated how much background and history he provided. It helps that he is native to Bergen. He's an enthusiastic, well-educated, and caring tour leader. I had very high expectations of what this tour would be like and yet the actual experience exceeded my expectations! I got to see a very large area of the countryside, beautiful views of the fjords, and spectacular views of waterfalls, including Voringsfossen, which was the highlight of my trip. I will always remember and treasure that day for the rest of my life. By the way, I recommend you go with the local tour company Guided Fjord Tours rather than booking through a middle-man agency because it's important to support local businesses.
Beautiful scenic journey. We visited three waterfalls and took a gondola to the top of a mountain. Our driver/guide Ivan was excellent - very friendly and helpful.
