Itinerary
Your adventure day tour starts with an afternoon Reykjavik pick up. From the capital you will head towards your first sightseeing stop of the day, Thingvellir National Park.
Thingvellir is rich in both gelogy and history, being the place where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are going a part as well as holding the oldest existing parliatment in the worldd, Althingi which was founded there in the year of 930. Drink in the true beauty and power of mother nature at this wonderful national Park before continuing to your next stop, Geysir hot spring area.
Geysir is all about spouting geysers. Here you will get to experience Strokkur geysir spout water up to 25 - 40 m up in the air. It is an experience like no other, stunning but incredible moment so make sure to bring your camera along. Strokkur erupts every 8 - 10 minutes.
The final highlight of your Golden Circle sightseeing adventure is the magical Gullfoss Waterfall, better known as the Golden Falls. Gullfoss is the most popular waterfall in Iceland and for a good reason, this beautiful waterfall drops 32 m in two stages providing you with some great photo opportunities. After admiring the breathtaking beauty of Gullfoss Waterfall you will start making your way back to Reykjavik where your tour ends. You can expect to be back in Reykjavik at around 18:00 PM.
Kerið crater, a geological wonder formed over 6,500 years ago, is the result of a volcanic eruption that caused a cone-shaped volcano to collapse, leaving behind the striking crater we see today. Over time, the crater filled with water, creating a beautiful blue lake within its caldera. The vibrant blue-green waters and the contrasting red volcanic rock make Kerið a must-see destination. The caldera spans 886 feet (270 meters) in diameter, with steep walls reaching up to 180 feet (55 meters) high. From the crater rim, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and distant mountains on clear days. For a closer look, take a 20-minute loop hike around the lake to capture stunning photos and fully appreciate the crater's mesmerizing blue waters. In summer, the red volcanic rocks contrast beautifully with the green moss. In winter, you'll be enchanted by the snow-covered slopes and the frozen lake, making Kerið a year-round wonder.

We really enjoyed this tour as a first day of getting a “taste of Iceland”. Tomas was a fantastic guide, with lots of information and a lively, fun personality. The bus was comfortable and modern. Waterfalls, horses, a geyser, and tectonic plate divide—all fascinating. Thank you!
Saw good stuff but not enough time to explore and enjoy. It was see it and move on quickly. Get a photo if you can, but not a good one.
Lovely stops and interesting views along the way. After visiting Yellowstone several times, I thought the geyser was not impressive; what was *very* impressive was all the geothermal activity on the hillsides for miles along the road. Although I’d have liked to spend more time at each of the stops, and would encourage folks to take an all-day tour if possible, I couldn’t do so because of my cruise ship schedule. I would have liked to have had more narration from our driver/guide, learning more about both what I saw and Iceland in general.
This was a wonderful way to experience Iceland and learn about the culture from an Icelander. Great tour.
The tour was fantastic! The waterfall is the largest in Europe and impressive. The tectonic plate shift was amazing. Our driver even stopped for us to be able to pet some Icelandic horses. The main geyser went off on a regular basis in around six minutes so it was good to be able to get pictures of the eruption. Iceland has some impressive geologic wonders. The tour was worth it and our driver was the best!
Great way to get a feel for Iceland. It will make you want to book that return trip right away. Our driver, Monica, was so knowledgeable and fun.
We were one of 8 buses picked up from the cruise ship doing the same tour, Guna our lovely guide went the opposite way to the others so that it wouldn’t be as busy at the attractions. We still saw everything but in a different order. Guna was very knowledgeable and told us about the areas, her country and more. The only slight criticism is that we could have spent more time at the waterfall and less at the geyser as most want to walk to the top of the falls which can take a bit longer. Saying that we managed it and got back just in time.
Fantastic tour. So great seeing the golden circle. Such a wonderful experience. So glad we had a great guide, Kristo. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. He drove very safely. I recommend him highly!
Hi there, thanks for this. A fantastic tour with a knowledgeable, fun guide who drives safely is the Golden Circle afternoon at its most complete. Glad it earned the recommendation. Arctic Adventures Team
Came to Reykjavík for a cruise and booked this on the day we landed. Our guide, Francesca (from Italy) was incredible! We saw everything, had ample time at each stop, and she gave us just the right amount of information.
Hi there, glad the cruise day worked out. A guide bringing just the right amount of info is someone who knows when to talk and when to let the stops speak for themselves. Thank you for joining us! Arctic Adventures Team
