Gettysburg Railway Historic Train Rides

Very boring presentation. Staff was nice, car was comfortable. But the presentation was certainly lacking.

This is one of the better train rides that we have taken. The inside of the cars are made up of 1950s decor and the leather seats were very comfortable. You go past a little bit of the battlefield and some countryside and the train goes at a slow pace. Nice way to unwind after driving around the battlefield all day. The guy that was in our train car was very nice and knowledgeable

So close to being an attraction to recommend. The ride stops 1000 feet from a siding in Biglerville. Imagine if the operators secured rights to that last 1000 feet of track and the siding. There the passengers could dissembark and hope on a shuttle to Sandoes and Hollenbaughs farm markets and shop for an hour for fresh fruits and homemade bakery items. Shuttle back and ride the train home. Surely Sandoes and Hollenbaughs would contribute to the shuttle costs. Then the trip would have a climax. As it is, the trip is just an out and back ride through the country.

It was a very nice afternoon for a train ride. The seating was comfortable and it didn't matter where you sat, the view was awesome! The train ride was on time and leaving and returning. There was food available for purchase which we didn't partake we just had brunch before arriving. The narrator we had was excellent in presenting what we were looking at and also what was to come going forward. Definitely very relaxing atmosphere.

Its really a basic train ride. The chairs are really comfortable though, but there's no sustance to it.

Parking is a concern. Be prepared to walk from overflow lot to station. The ride: seats are very comfortable. The start and stop of the movement is very smooth. The train car host was most interesting in her stories of the battle and its impact on Gettysburg. If you are expecting to see battlefields out of the window on the ride you will not.

The train itself was very, very comfortable with large over stuffed seating. The scenery was good if 1) you enjoy looking at a lot of trees and/or fields of crops. The guide, in period dress, was pleasant but does not do most of the narration, it is piped through a sound system. We learned more about the railroad than we did the Battle of Gettysburg. I’m doing the 4 stars mostly because of the comfort of the train not the narration. If you like train rides, I would say do it.

Excellent experience. A new way to see Gettysburg. Jim was an excellent guide and the train was comfortable and beautiful.

Not so much battle field related. Scenic, relaxing, informative. All in all a very pleasant two hours well spent. ,
