The bus ride was nice and air conditioned. Pompeii itself was very hot during the August heat wave, the gelato at the shop melted before it reached our mouths. The tour guide was informative, and we saw all the highlights in the ruins, but the audio devices were often cutting out whenever there was a wall between us. Decent enough value for your money.
I appreciated Morandi Tours. They communicated with us in advance of the tour and the exact dot on Google maps was where they were standing waiting for us. The bus ride was comfortable. Our bus driver Antonio was so sweet. Our tour guide Francesco was incredibly knowledgeable and funny. An outstanding tour!
Tour was great. Very informative. Guide was amazing!! Break is provided in the middle of the tour with access to restaurant/cafe and gift shop at the end for about 20-30 min before reboarding Bus ride is comfortable and has ac.
This tour is a great introduction into the history and gave an insight into what life in Pompeii would have been like. The meeting / drop off point was straight forward, immediately outside the port and the Guides handled it from there. I also received very good communication via WhatsApp throughout. The tour itself was very informative and we visited a variety of sites, from shop fronts, to grand homes, to an amphitheatre and to the Forum. We visited during the first week of August and it was hot, therefore this half day tour was very much appreciated. However we now have the appetite to hopefully explore Pompeii once again in the future (when it's a little bit cooler). A knowledgable Guide is highly recommended for such a vast and fascinating city and know doubt we'll be signing up for another tour when we come round to it!
I made the reservation weeks in advance and requested a guided tour in Spanish, since I was going with children, and they confirmed it for me. The day before the visit I received an email that the visit had to be in English, that I could cancel it, but of course I was already on the trip and without time to look for a new visit. The English-speaking guide, Mariana, was very good, she explained everything clearly and was entertaining, which is why I am not giving it a single star. The visit lasted less than established, but we appreciated it due to the heat.
We had an excellent guide. It was an extremely hot day; she always looked for a shady spot to share information. She gave us free time towards the end of the tour, making it clear when to meet again. She finished the tour by making sure we all know how to find the bus and what time to be there. We had a great day! We know so much more than when we started. Highly recommend!!
Such wonderful history! Our guide was knowledgeable, but didn’t go too far in depth that it wasn’t interesting. It was a terribly hot day, and he made sure to find shade to tell us the stories and then give us time to check it out. He was funny and friendly. Thank you! This was one of my favorite tours on our trip.
Make sure you have the appropriate footwear on due to the uneven surface and take water due to the cue when getting water Our guide Julia was very good and knowledgeable and made the experience well worth it
The operator had fantastic pre-event communication. An individualized text was sent the day before tour in which a pinpoint meeting location on Google Maps was given. Also, as my family tried to find tour coordinator at the Port building entrance, a text with a selfie helped us easily locate her. The bus ride was clean, safe and efficient. However, I wish better “hand-off” communication between tour coordinator in Salerno, bus driver, and a male coordinator in Pompeii was given. Unfortunately, parking and opening door in lot at Pompeii restaurant caused some tour attendees to scatter since no member of the above listed communicated next steps ahead of time. The archeological guide was amazing and well prepared. Her selected walking tour shared interesting locations, and the comparisons to current life or popular myths were memorable. I only wish her walking speed took into account the group. My mother had the most difficulty with the uneven paths at times, and we frequently lost sight of the group. However, the guide provided her phone number, clearly gave evacuation instructions, and the meeting times ended up manageable. I was able to get all three of my generations onto the bus again on time. The bus ride back was beautiful, examples of famous Italian driving added to the experience, and front door drop off at the port made this first non-cruise line excursion I have booked for my family a success! I am very thankful this was available.
Pick up at the port was easy and the company representative on the bus was very attentive and organized. The company itself was very responsive and sent a number of text messages to answer questions and to make sure we found the bus. We were enjoying the tour of Pompeii with the tour guide, a different person than the representative on the bus, until the tour guide quickly walked off with the rest of the group without saying anything on the audio. My husband and I tried to keep track of her among the very crowded street, but since she did not carry a flag, nor did she give any directions over the audio, we lost sight of her and the group. Our daughter who was in the group, let the tour guide know that my husband and I were lost and the tour guide suggested that we go to the exit of Pompeii rather than trying to help us meet the group for the rest of the tour. So we missed out on part of the tour that we had paid for.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the organization of the tour, the ease of the port pick-up, and the assistance provided by our staff before and during departure. We always strive to ensure that our guests feel supported from the very beginning of their experience. We are, however, truly sorry to learn that you and your husband became separated from the group during the guided visit to Pompeii. We understand how disappointing it must have been to miss part of a site as extraordinary as Pompeii after looking forward to the experience. Your comments regarding the guide’s pace, the communication through the audio system, and the difficulty of relocating the group in such a busy archaeological site have been carefully noted. We will share your feedback with our local guiding team to reinforce the importance of regularly checking that the entire group is together and of providing clear instructions whenever movement through crowded areas is required. We sincerely appreciate your constructive comments, as they help us continue improving one of our most popular tours. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with the seamless experience we always aim to deliver.
