Our journey begins outside the Metro Station Materdei, where the city’s ancient soul first welcomes you. Standing before the oldest gate in Naples, we will take a moment to connect and share our first impressions, creating that warm, personal bond that turns a simple walk into a shared experience before we dive together into the vibrant heart of the streets.
Our journey leads us to the Fontanelle Cemetery, a place where the boundary between life and death softens into a deep sense of belonging. As you walk through these ancient tufa caves, you’ll discover that this is not a place of sorrow, but a sanctuary of "social love."
You will see thousands of skulls that Neapolitans once lovingly "adopted," calling them *Anime Pezzentelle*—the little forgotten souls. Without knowing their origins, the people of the neighborhood gave them names, care, and a new family. Standing here, you can truly feel the unique spirit of Naples: a city that reaches out to the abandoned and turns a silent resting place into a moving story of compassion and eternal connection.
Rione Sanita20 min
As we wander together through the halls of historic palaces and past vibrant murals, take all the time you need to capture the magic through your lens. This journey is yours to frame: every corner hides a story of Neapolitan folklore and a splash of street art waiting to be remembered. I’ll make sure we move at a pace that lets you soak in the atmosphere and snap those perfect shots, turning every beautiful detail we encounter into a lasting memory of your time here.

We will pause to admire the Basilica from the outside, looking up at what the locals affectionately call "Il Monacone"—the Big Monk. Even from the street, you can feel his protective presence watching over the neighborhood like a silent guardian. Standing here, you’ll sense the deep bond between the people and this iconic figure, a symbol of care and strength that has defined the spirit of these alleys for centuries.
Palazzo Sanfelice10 min
Next, we’ll step into the intimate world of Palazzo San Felice. Entering here feels like a warm embrace from the city itself; this was the architect’s personal sanctuary, and you can sense a more rustic, lived-in soul compared to its grander neighbors. As you wander through, you might feel a sense of familiarity—its evocative atmosphere has captured the hearts of many filmmakers. It is a place that tells the true story of Naples, where the elegance of the nobility lived side-by-side with the humble reality of the streets, a poignant contrast that truly defines the spirit of our city.
Palazzo Dello Spagnolo10 min
Our first stop brings us to the Palazzo dello Spagnolo, where the architecture itself seems to come alive. As you stand before the famous “falcon-wing” stairs, you can almost feel the elegance of a bygone era. These steps weren't built just for walking; Ferdinando Sanfelice imagined them as a grand stage, designed for people to be seen and admired in a graceful dance of social life. Take a breath and imagine yourself part of that timeless scene, where every step tells a story of beauty and prestige.
we’ll take a moment to savor the sweetness of our journey together. We’ll stop at Pasticceria Poppella to treat you to a "fiocco di neve"—a true icon of the Sanità district. As you taste this delicate, cloud-like pastry, you’ll understand why it has become a symbol of the neighborhood’s rebirth. It’s our way of leaving you with a lingering, sweet memory of Naples and the warmth we've shared today.
