Explore Folly Island from head to toe. Most Charleston visitors don't even realize our area has beautiful beaches! And Folly Beach will make you feel as if you've been transported to Key West! Arrive in style in my 2021 Mercedes Sprinter van, put your sun and surf clothes on, and soak in this surfer beach town. We can take 1-10 people. Our adventure takes us out on a 1/2 mile walk to the northern end of Folly, with a beautiful vista of Morris Island Lighthouse. This is where several scenes from Outer Banks is filmed. Next, walk the boardwalk into the ocean on Folly Beach Pier. Margaritas or ice cream anyone? Then, I will set you loose on the town to enjoy surfer shops. Taco Boy is my suggestion, but lunch is up to you. Finally, a drive to the south end of Folly, and the county park. Customize your adventure in advance and add additional hours. You can even rent beach chairs and enjoy the surf. Don't miss the chance to spend some time with the ocean!
We will travel to the north end of Folly Island as we walk the graffiti road for a beautiful vista of Morris Island Lighthouse. Enjoy Folly in it's original, non-civilized state. And you never know, we might bump into John B if they are shooting for Outer Banks. This walk is 1/4 mile, then we will traverse a sand dune onto a secluded part of the beach. It's an island secret, so don't tell anyone!
Have lunch at Taco Boy and roam the shops. Lunch is not included in the price of the tour.
The new Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier pays tribute to the previous Lowcountry icon dating back into the Shag heydays of the 40's. Breathtaking views of the "Edge of America" are just some of the possibilities at the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, where you can find some of the best saltwater fishing in the area. The pier stretches 1,049 feet into the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and is 25 feet wide and 22 feet above sea level. A lovely beach store with the best ice cream on the island, along with countless souvenirs and t-shirts awaits you. And there is a beach bar at Pier101 overlooking the ocean for your enjoyment.
Next, we visit the opposite end of Folly Island, and the Charleston County beach park. You can explore as far as you would like, or relax on the boardwalk and take in the sun. Skimmer Flats, a major Eastern Brown Pelican rookery, is visible at the west end of the park.
