Itinerary
Start your walk at Manchester Town Hall. Just open Ciceru nearby to begin exploring this Gothic Revival landmark from the outside, where clock towers, spires, and carved stone broadcast Victorian confidence.
Pause on Mulberry Street and view the church’s red brick exterior and tall spire, a discreet declaration of Catholic survival tucked behind the city’s main streets.
Stand on Deansgate and admire the fortress-like facade of the John Rylands Library, where gargoyles, towers, and red sandstone turn learning into architecture.
View St. Ann’s Church from the square and notice its patchwork stone exterior, a quiet record of repairs, resilience, and centuries of civic life.
Admire the monumental stone exterior of the Royal Exchange, once the heart of Cottonopolis and now a cultural landmark shaped by reinvention and repair.
Pause outside this crooked Tudor building and take in its timber frame, a 16th century survivor that has been moved, rebuilt, and stubbornly preserved.
Stand before the cathedral and observe its Gothic stonework, rebuilt walls, and carved details that reflect Manchester’s spiritual and social history.
Wrap up your tour outside Chetham’s Library. Take a moment to admire the medieval sandstone exterior of the world’s oldest public library before ending your walk.

So upset. We made the first 2 stops using the directions provided through the link with no issues. Then, when we went to the John Ryland Library the directions took us over 2K away to the Manchester University Library. Completely off track and had to end the tour without seeing the rest because of how far off the path we went.
Thank you, Kelly! That routing error is on us: the directions pointed you to the wrong library and sent you well off the path, and we're fixing the waypoint so it doesn't send anyone there again. Having your walk cut short like that isn't acceptable, so please email us at info@ciceru.com and we'll arrange a refund.
