Great Tour for a hobby Chef

I got kind of lucky that I was the only one on this Tour with Riki. Got basically the private tour experience. He is a great guy and very knowledgable chef. I have learned new things from him I can incorporate in my personal journey as a chef. The many food spots we visited were all super tasty and there was an abundance of food. If you go on this tour you better be hungry, cause you will need it. I will try to bring my siblings along and do this tour again

Amazing experience!

Our tour was amazing! Rakesh, our tour guide, did a wonderful job sharing his knowledge, providing us a history lesson, and explaining the culture and origins of the delicious foods we tried. Each restaurant or shop had friendly shop owners, and the food lived up to expectations. We even received an email following the tour with recipes, and additional city recommendations. When back in London, would definitely try another tour!

Operator response

Delicious and good for young families!

We had a great time on our Indian food tour. Jez was a superb, friendly and knowlegeable host and the food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. My partner and I went with our five month old baby in his pram, and it was no problem to fit the pram in all the places we visited and have him by us at the table.

Memorable Adventure in East London.

I highly recommend the Indian Cuisine, East London food tour. Our guide, Jai was an excellent host. Very knowledgeable and friendly. His insight to the different dishes, spices and history were engaging. To be personally shown around to the best spots was key to making the best dishes available for us to experience and the flavour’s were delicious. We’ll recommend to my friends coming to London.

My second Secret Food Tour in London and somehow even better than the first.

Five stops through Brick Lane and Whitechapel, every one a real working venue and not a single tourist trap. And let me be clear up front: this is not a butter chicken and chicken tikka masala tour. This is the real thing. Pakoras and mango lassi, then chana puri, saag lamb, tarka daal, and chicken karahi, a full sweets flight (the jalebi alone was worth showing up for), and grilled kebabs, lamb chops, and paneer tikka. We left genuinely full, which is not something I can say about most food tours. What put it over the top was our guide Riki. The man is a chef with over 30 years of experience and it shows. He knows his stuff cold and made the whole journey fun while sprinkling in so much knowledge along the way. I walked away actually understanding Indian spices, what turmeric, cumin, fennel, and cardamom each do, why they go in when they go in, and how a real spice box is built. That alone was worth the ticket. The tour flew by too. 3-3.5 hours went by so fast! I kept thinking we were halfway through and we were already at the next stop. Then he followed up afterward with the full written menu, his own chicken curry and masala chai recipes, a citywide restaurant list, and a complete breakdown of that spice box. This is now two Secret Tours - London food tours down and I genuinely cannot wait to book another. If you want to actually understand what you are eating, eat the real thing, and have a great time doing it, this is the one. Great for families with adventure pallets, multi-generational trips, solo travelers, friends or couples.
