Description

Whether you are visiting Dubrovnik for the first time or the hundredth, the city never fails to amaze you as it did the first time. When you set your eyes on the medieval walls, the ancient buildings and the marble streets of Dubrovnik you feel like you were teleported into another dimension. Inside the city, the green shuttered stone houses, ancient churches and countless monuments blend seamlessly into a perfect ensemble untouched by the twenty first century. The popularity of Dubrovnik, its massive city walls and its cultural heritage is gaining even more popularity as the city has been used as a set for The Game of Thrones series and Star Wars VIII. Before returning to Split, make a short stop in Ston, a historic town known for its impressive medieval fortifications, saltworks, and long tradition of oyster farming. Take a break, explore the area, and discover one of the local specialties before continuing your journey back to Split.

Dubrovnik In A Day

Our day trip to Dubrovnik was amazing. The only slight negative was the small bus was quite cramped but we did stop on the way to use the bathroom, stretch our legs and grab a coffee. Frano was a great tour guide - so knowledgeable and informative about the history and the walking tour with him in Dubrovnik was fun. The bus driver got us there and back to Split safely. There was plenty of time to wander around and explore by ourselves and take too many photos! My husband and I opted to take a 45 min glass bottom boat tour around some of the islands and get a different perspective of the city from the water. Absolutely recommend taking this tour.

Poor Customer Service

We booked this tour many months ago for Monday 21st of September. We arrived as instructed at the meeting point at around 6:30am. We had to skip breakfast at our hotel as was very early. We where then advised at 7am that our tour was actually for Tuesday the 22nd of September. No explanation or apology was given. Go away, come back tomorrow. We had to go back to our hotel and do it all again the following day... skipping breakfast again. Very dissapointed with this level of customer service and feel we have been mis-sold our excursion in the first instance and should be refunded. I will speak to my bank about claiming a refund as this company seem to think their actions (or lack of in respect to apology) are OK, and I should just accept they messed up my booking, and caused a full day without any planned activity.

Operator response

We’re sorry to hear about your disappointment. However, we would like to clarify that your booking was confirmed for Tuesday, September 22nd, not Monday, September 21st. You arrived at the meeting point one day before the date stated on your booking. We understand how frustrating this must have been, but unfortunately we cannot be held responsible when a guest arrives on a different date than the one booked. We always encourage our guests to carefully check their booking confirmation for the tour date and time.

The long day was so worth...

The long day was so worth it. Igor got us to and from safely. Frane was an awesome guide. We left 7 am and around 9 am we took a twenty minute bathroom coffee break and got back on the road. Once we go to Dubrovnik Frane gave us the option to join him on a quick walking tour or you could start your free time. I highly suggest walking with him he knows so much about the city and showed us so many cool spots I would of never have found on my own. We got back to the van at 2:55 to try and beat the rush of traffic leaving the city. There was plenty of time to grab lunch explore and buy souvenirs or you could go for a swim if you plan it right. We made it back to Split around 6 pm.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the day in Dubrovnik. 😊 We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Frane and Igor — it’s great to hear they helped make your experience special. We hope to welcome you back to Croatia again soon!

Transportation to Dubrovnik

The experience itself was great - Dubrovnik was lovely and the stop for wine and oysters in the way back to split was wonderful. The logistics and communication with the tour provider regarding hotel pickup and drop off were not up to standards and thus the low marks.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback! We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed Dubrovnik and especially the wine and oyster stop on the way back. We’re sorry to hear that the pickup and drop-off communication did not meet your expectations. We take this feedback seriously and will review the communication process with our team to make sure these arrangements are clearer for our guests. Thank you for helping us improve!

Beautiful fortified city but too touristy and very expensive

Dubrovnik is a wonderful walled city, until everything is fine 👍 where the disappointment begins is that the prices of everything are exorbitant! And this is Croatia's most disappointing welcome! The people of Dubrovnik are aggressive, obsessed with tourists with pockets full of euro.... We paid the express 5 euro, to go up on the ramparts we are asked 40€😡 yes okay for this price you have the Pass, but when on excursion you have only 3 or 4 hours to do everything, with a fairly large number of tourists and queues everywhere 😬 this one did not make any profit at all, in short, we did not enjoy this outing. Luckily Croatia is wonderful in other great places, Croatians are very welcoming in general, and their country is just incredibly beautiful, too bad that tourism rots great places like Dubrovnik 🙏

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that Dubrovnik did not fully meet your expectations. It is a very popular destination, especially in peak season, which can sometimes result in higher prices and crowds. We’re glad to know you still appreciated the beauty of Croatia overall, and we hope you were able to enjoy other parts of your trip more comfortably. Kind regards, STours

Great Day Out!

We had a lovely day out. Peter was an excellent guide - made us feel welcome and shared great insight into the history of the region. The coastal views were stunning. Dubrovnik itself was beautiful but crowded. I can't imagine it in the peak of summer. The stop at Konoba Feral Brijesta was wonderful - great scenery, wine and staff! We would have enjoyed having a bit more time there, but made the most of it.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a lovely day and that Peter made your experience special with his knowledge and warm welcome. We’re also glad you enjoyed the coastal views and your visit to Konoba Ferla Brijesta. We hope to welcome you back to Croatia again soon!

Fantastic day of touring!

We had a great time exploring Dubrovnik. Our tour guide was Ivanka and she was the best guide! She was full of information and was fun to listen to. I was concerned that all of the driving would be tiresome, but we stopped for coffee on the way there and stopped for wine on the way back. This broke up the drive perfectly. Plus the countryside was so beautiful! Dubrovnik was a great city! We had plenty of free time to walk the wall, shop and have a wonderful lunch.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're so glad you had a great time exploring Dubrovnik with Ivanka, she really is a fantastic guide, full of knowledge and great energy. We’re happy to hear the coffee and wine stops made the drive more enjoyable, and that you had time to soak in the beauty of both the countryside and the city. Dubrovnik truly is something special. Hope to see you again on another tour!

I had a great time on...

I had a great time on this trip. It was a long day and a lot of travelling but it was nice to see a different city. Our guide was really knowledgeable and gave us lots of facts about the city and surrounding areas - during the bus ride and on the guided tour. We then had some free time to discover Old town Dubrovnik which was beautiful but also a very busy place to be.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad to hear you had a great time and enjoyed discovering a new city despite the long day and travel. It’s wonderful that your guide provided plenty of interesting facts both on the bus and during the tour. Dubrovnik’s Old Town is indeed beautiful, though it can get quite busy. We hope to welcome you again for another memorable adventure soon!
