From Split: Plitvice Lakes National Park Guided Tour

The drive is around 3.5 hours each way, so you’re looking at roughly 7 hours total on the bus. That might sound like a lot, but honestly, you barely feel it! The bus is comfortable, there’s a break along the way, and the journey goes by surprisingly quickly. Antonia also talks you through the history of Croatia during the drive, which was really interesting and definitely helped pass the time. October was the perfect time to visit. The weather wasn’t too warm, and the park wasn’t crowded at all. We didn’t have to queue for any of the popular spots or even for the boat ride, which made the whole experience so much more fun. Antonia was lovely throughout the entire trip, and the park itself is absolutely gorgeous. She also took care of buying our park tickets, so we didn’t have to line up, and you get a discounted ticket price through the tour. I’d recommend not buying your park tickets separately in advance! For the walk itself, definitely wear proper trainers/rubber shoes rather than slippers or sandals because some parts can get quite dusty. It’s around a 9 km walk, with some uphill sections towards the end, so it’s also worth keeping that in mind if you have any medical conditions or mobility concerns. I’d really recommend doing the guided tour rather than visiting on your own, especially if you get Antonia! You learn so much more about the park and Croatia in general, and she even gave us recommendations and tips on where to eat and what else to do during our trip. Overall, we had such a fun day. Antonia was incredibly helpful from start to finish, and everything felt very easy and well-organized. I would absolutely come back, probably around the same time of year again - and next time, I’d love to do it with a bigger group of friends. Such a fun trip and definitely one of the highlights of our holiday! 🤍

Very good tour. Beautiful scenery, waterfalls and turquoise color water. It was nice to be able to walk the paths and stop to photograph the beauty. Our guide was fantastic.

Tour was awesome, guide was interesting and engaging. He entertained us all the way and at the same time provided historical facts about the park.

We had an excellent time on this tour! Our tour guide Sanja was fantastic, she was very knowledgeable about the area and she helped make the long ride feel much faster. We took a self guided tour at the park, and she provided great instructions to make sure we found our way to the departure point on time. Would highly recommend for anyone trying to see Plitvice Lakes from Split.

A lot of hiking, roughly 6 miles, with many stairs up and down. Amazing views. The boat ride was a nice break half way through the hike. Downside is even though it’s October, trails were very busy. People do not move and tend to walk close.

Beautiful place to visit. Need to dress appropriately because it can be chilly. Our guide Lovro was excellent. Great information and a great sense of humour.
