Meet your local guide near Pile Gate for a tour of the ancient city walls, a 1.2-mile (2-km) complex structure built in the 14th century that served as defensive structures to protect the city.
We enter the old town, then head towards the city walls entrance.
We will stop to buy the city walls tickets and then we will walk the city walls. Marvel at the beautiful blue colors of the Adriatic Sea and admire breathtaking views of the port and the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while your guide takes you through the history of the city walls. In the 11th century, the sea channel separating the city from mainland was covered up with earth, so a single wall was built to enclose the present-day Old Town. The city walls have been restored several times in history to resemble their original appearance. With your guide, see Fort Revelin and Minceta Tower within the city walls (entrance fees not included), and learn the strategic position of these forts and their role in Dubrovnik's history. You will also see Fort Lovrijenac in the distance, the only fort that belongs to the city walls but it's physically separated from them, and which you may visit after the tour. As you wander around Dubrovnik's ancient walls, your guide will explain the defensive and political challenges faced by Dubrovnik in the past. Enjoyable walking tour of the walls of Dubrovnik. A much larger group than we expected, but our guide Mara was wonderful, doing her best to involve us in the history and story of the walls
Lots of steps be ready for a good work out. The views are beautiful and the the guide Mara was well educated, knowledgeable and very well spoken.

Davor our guide was perfect! He answered all questions posed and was extremely knowledgeable. He paced the trip perfectly with a few stops for rest, shade, toilet etc. The tour is fascinating.
Our guide was extremely knowledgable about the history of Dubrovnik over many centuries and up to the war of independence in the 1990's. The tour was the highlight of our trip. So happy we did it first so we could truly appreciate the architecture, culture, religions and amazing people in this city.

The tour was well organized and paced. Go in the morning as the afternoon heat with the climbing can be a show stopper. We had a large group of 40 people which was unusual and we needed to stay close to the guide so our earpiece headset stayed connected Gorun, our guide, was very informative and helpful with best places to eat after the wall. The views of inside the city and the shore could only be seen from the walls. The history of the walls and wars were very informative and our guide had first hand accounts from his childhood during the 1990’s
