We had a great food and walking tour with Chris. We learned a lot about the development of Anchorage as a city, and enjoyed stopping at both historical/architectural/cultural interest spots as well as the food spots. The food was excellent -- from homemade yogurt parfaits to biscuits and gravy to doughnuts to seafood sampler plates. And it was fun to learn about Alaska's history of dogsledding, the summitting of Mt. Denali, and humorous stories including about a drunken moose in Anchorage.
Food tour wasn’t worth the money. We enjoyed our time and our guide was sweet but we expected more for the price.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed your time and your guide. We understand the concern about value. Food costs in Anchorage are roughly 24–26% higher than the national survey average, which does impact tour pricing. That said, we appreciate your comments and will continue looking for ways to provide the best experience and value possible.
The Tour was great. Carole is a fantastic guide. She really knew the food scene. And was able to give a great introduction to Anchorage.

We really appreciate you joining us and hope you left Anchorage with some great memories and a full stomach!
It was a wonderful food experience and you of course get to meet people from all the different states. The food was delicious and the portions were a good size. You get to learn a little about Alaska’s history.
We do a food tour on most trips we take and this tour was a poor comparison. There are do many interesting local flavors (fire berry, spruce tip etc) and there was no discussion of the foods we did get. It started with a random doughnut? We sorted out the foods scene on our own. The tour guide was nice, but hard to hear and disorganized and generally seemed to be getting acquainted with the history of the area herself.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry the tour did not meet your expectations, particularly when it came to explaining the food and its connection to Anchorage and Alaska. I do want to clarify a few of the tastings, as it sounds like some important context may not have been communicated clearly during your tour. The donut stop is not intended to be a random sweet stop. Guests sample unique Alaskan-inspired flavors, including Fireweed glazed donuts, from a bakery located in one of Anchorage’s oldest historic buildings. Their donuts have also received national recognition, including mentions from HuffPost and Food & Wine. You also sampled a unique version of Russian pelmeni, filled with pork and beef and served fried with a tzatziki-style sauce, dill onions, and salmon roe. This stop also provides an opportunity to sample locally crafted beer from smaller breweries around Alaska. Other tastings included locally made Alaska reindeer sausage and a fresh seafood sampler featuring Alaska halibut, red salmon, and crab. These foods and the stories behind them are intended to be an important part of the experience, so I apologize if the tastings were not better described or their significance explained during your tour. I also appreciate your feedback that the guide was difficult to hear and that the tour felt disorganized. She is a longtime, experienced Alaska tour guide with deep knowledge of Alaska’s history, so it is possible she was simply having an off day. That said, we recognize that communicating the information clearly, engagingly, and in an organized manner is just as important as knowing it. We will use your feedback to help ensure the food, history, and stories that make this tour unique are communicated as effectively as they should be.
Carole knocked it out of the park on this food tour and was a fascinating guide with all of her knowledge and travel background. Great food choices and gave me places to try as a newcomer to Anchorage.
