We had a great, relaxing tour of the Douro Valley with J and Raphael (boat guide). We ate some great food and wine, and learned all about this beautiful valley. It was a great tour, I highly recommend it.
Our private tour to the Douro wine valley region with our guide Jose from BL Heritage Tours, was a highlight of our stay in Portugal. We visited 2 small family run wineries - one for wine tasting and the other for lunch (the food was fabulous!), with wine paired with each course. We prefer smaller wineries so this tour was perfect. We also had a boat ride along the Douro River - complete with more wine - which was wonderful. We sailed from a quieter spot on the river, so there weren't any other tour groups in the area. Jose was the perfect tour guide - so polite and considerate. The Douro Valley is breathtaking and is not to be missed if you have the time to take a day trip (or longer) from Porto. BL Heritage Tours was always quick to respond to our questions and was very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with them when we return to Portugal - which we will someday!
Very enjoyable trip to the beautiful Douro Valley. J our local guide was very knowledgeable and informative. He was also a careful and proficient driver which was much appreciated on the narrow, curving mountainous roads of the Valley. Felt we received a very good overview and history of the area whilst enjoying the wines of two family run vineyards and an excellent lunch. A cocktail on a scenic boat ride finished off a special day.
Wonderful experience! Our guide was very engaging and knowledgeable, and made sure we were comfortable all day. The vineyards we went to were beautiful and offered different types of wines to try, and the guides did a great job explaining the history and different characteristics of each wine production. The boat trip on the river was a nice bonus, we were able to enjoy the beautiful views while trying another type of wine different from the others.
Very enjoyable day. The group we were with were lovely and it very quickly felt like a group of friends. The wines we tasted were very good quality and the setting looking out over the Douro Valley was amazing. In-between the tastings was the boat ride which we very much enjoyed. All in all its was a great day.
we a very enjoyable time and our guide was amazing. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you.
What a great day!! Everything ran perfectly smooth although we did have a private group. Our guide Jose was great. He was very accommodating and full of surprises for us. He even added a stop to the sixth sense resort so we could check it out. The lunch was beyond amazing and beautiful which was a highlight for many. The boat ride was beautiful and very peaceful. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.
We chose this tour ahead of our trip based on the reviews. We found the meeting point easily day of tour. Bruno was our driver, very friendly and communicated everything clearly to us. We visited a small winery first, that was our favourite as the winery staff explained their wine making process prior to the sampling, where we tried great wine and port. But the second winery was just lunch. Food was great but Bruno served us so you don’t learn about the winery, but the sampling of wine was delish at lunch. Then we ended our day on a boat tour which we found underwhelming. Next time I would choose a tour without the boat ride down the river. And perhaps visit more wineries. Also found tour very expensive based on experience and comparison with other tours taken.
This tour was highly recommended to us and for good reason. The reservation and communication opportunity was great. This experience was an excellent addition to our journey to Portugal. The special request for gluten free options exceeded expectations. Our host and guide exhibited his extensive knowledge and numerous skills throughout the day with kindness and care.
Excellent tour. I high;y recommend . Pick up was convenient. We did 2 port wineries and both were great. We went on a boat ride in between tastings plus several other stops to see the Valley. Joal was an excellent guide. Very informative and so nice to tour around with all day.
