Our family had several different age groups traveling together, so finding an excursion that everyone could enjoy wasn't easy. We wanted sightseeing for the adults, but also enough flexibility so the younger members didn't feel like they were stuck on a nonstop history lesson. The Florence guide did a good job explaining the city and its history while keeping the visit moving. After the guided portion, the free time was very useful. Some of us explored more, while others found a place to sit and have a drink. Pisa was a fun change of pace. Naturally, everyone wanted the classic Leaning Tower photo, and we had enough time to walk around the area without feeling like we were there for only five minutes. The air conditioning in the vehicle was another small thing that made the day better. Most importantly, the timing was handled around our ship's departure, so we didn't have to organize our own way back. For a family group, that convenience was worth a lot.
We chose this excursion because we wanted to experience Florence and Pisa in one day without trying to organize everything ourselves. As a couple, we appreciated that the day didn't feel like we were being rushed from one attraction to another. The Florence portion was especially enjoyable. Having a guide there gave us a better understanding of the places we were seeing, but we also had free time to explore on our own. We enjoyed simply walking through the streets, stopping for coffee, and taking in the atmosphere. Pisa was a shorter visit but exactly what we expected. We had enough time around the main area to see the tower and take photos before continuing back toward the port. The air-conditioned transportation was comfortable, and the biggest advantage for us was knowing that the schedule was designed around returning to the ship on time. For a cruise day, that takes away a lot of unnecessary stress.
We purchased a ticket at the port to get from the ship to the city center via shuttle bus. The tour company meeting point was immediately where the shuttle dropped us. The tour group was very big. We filled a large double decker tour bus. Once in Florence, we took a walking tour with the guide to see the main sights (exterior only). There were many people in the group and it was hard to hear the guide unless we got up very close. After the walking tour, we had free time to shop and have lunch. We then went to Pisa and walked around the main square and saw the tower. We had free time in Pisa. The driver was able to drive us directly back to port so we did not need to take the shuttle back which was very nice.
A great experience traveling to Florence and Pisa—places that belong on every bucket list. The guide was experienced and managed the time well... a great family experience!
Great experience and knowledgeable tour guide. Very punctual and returned to the ship with time to spare!
Good day to see Florence and Pisa in one day. Guides were gentle and friendly but didn’t have a microphone or speakers. We hardly heard anything.
I really enjoyed the tour. However, the only complaint I had was the amount of free time we head. For instance, in Pisa the tour guide told us we had an hour to tour and purchase tickets to go up in the leaning tower. However, she spent another 15 minutes talking, which left us with only 45 minutes remaining. We just walked away from the tour at that point because we wanted to take pictures. But that left no time to go in the tower like she told us we could do.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel this experience deserves to be shared. Our Florence and Pisa tour was cancelled the day before it was due to take place. While I appreciate that unforeseen circumstances can arise, cancelling at such short notice caused considerable disappointment and disruption to our travel plans. By that stage, many alternative tours were either fully booked or significantly more expensive, leaving us with very limited options. What was most frustrating was not simply the cancellation itself, but the timing. When people are travelling, time is precious, and last-minute changes can have a real impact on a holiday that has often been planned months in advance. I hope the company reviews its planning and contingency arrangements so that future customers are not left in the same position. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot recommend booking with confidence. I suggest finding an alternative operator.
We regret to hear about your disappointment, but before booking any further activities, we strongly recommend reading and understanding the cancellation policy available on the TripAdvisor website at any time. Your booking was cancelled for a full refund more than 24 hours before the tour start time. The system automatically sent this information to the email provided at the time of booking, allowing you enough time to book alternative options, available by the dozens on the same website. If you are new to TripAdvisor, you are welcome to ask for assistance from the Customer Care team, who are at your disposal at any time. Safe and happy travels.
