Upon arrival at the cruise terminal, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your professional team, ready to lead you on an unforgettable journey. Relax in comfort as you travel through the scenic Peloponnese countryside, soaking in olive groves, rolling hills, and charming villages on your way to Ancient Olympia—the legendary birthplace of the Olympic Games.
Step back nearly 3,000 years into the heart of ancient sporting glory. This sacred site hosted the first Olympic Games in 776 BC, and even today, the Olympic Flame is lit here before every modern Games. Wander through the Temple of Zeus, once home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and visit the Temple of Hera, where the Olympic Torch begins its journey. Stroll the ancient gymnasium, athlete training grounds, and the original Olympic stadium—still echoing with the spirit of competition and once again used during the Athens 2004 Olympics. Run on the same track as ancient and modern athletes alike!
Deepen your experience with a visit to one of Greece’s most celebrated museums. Here, history comes vividly to life through the famous statue of Hermes by Praxiteles, timeless sculptures, treasures, and everyday artifacts, rich displays that connect mythology, athleticism, and divine heritage. It’s the perfect companion to the site visit, adding layers of meaning to the ruins you’ve just explored.
Enjoy your leisure time in the peaceful village of modern Olympia, home to fewer than 600 residents. Wander its cozy streets lined with local shops, family-run tavernas, and artisan boutiques, where you can savor Greek delicacies or find one-of-a-kind souvenirs to remember your visit.

Amazing experience for us! To learn the history with the well educated tour guide, Theodora, was exceptional, on her birthday! So much knowledge about history and mythology. 10/10 recommend this tour! Some trouble with pick up at the ship. We missed the JAT sign but found the bus after a one mile walk. Otherwise phenomenal!
As a couple, we appreciated the ease of this tour. Everything was organized in advance, so we didn’t need to worry about transportation or timing. Olympia itself is fascinating, and even though the visit is relatively brief, it gives a good sense of the historical importance of the site. The guide’s commentary added helpful background. It’s a comfortable and low-stress way to experience a major landmark during a cruise stop.
We went on this tour as friends during a cruise stop and enjoyed the overall experience. The transport was comfortable and the coordination was smooth from start to finish. The only drawback was that time at Olympia felt slightly short, especially since the site is quite large and interesting. However, we still managed to see the main highlights. It’s a practical option for cruise passengers, but not a deep dive into the archaeology.
Traveling alone, I found this tour very easy to join and follow. The instructions for meeting at Katakolon Port were clear, and the group was not too large, which made it comfortable. The visit to Olympia was interesting, especially having some time to walk independently through parts of the site. The guide was available for questions but didn’t dominate the experience. It’s a practical option if you want a stress-free way to reach Olympia without arranging transport yourself.
We joined this tour as a family during our cruise stop at Katakolon. The main thing we appreciated was how smooth the logistics were from the port. Everything was clearly organized, and the transfer to Olympia was comfortable, which is important when traveling with kids. The guide shared historical information in a way that was easy to follow, without going into too much detail. At the archaeological site, we had enough time to walk around, take photos, and let the kids explore at their own pace. It’s a fairly relaxed experience overall, and it worked well for a short shore visit.
As a couple, we wanted something simple and reliable from Katakolon, and this tour delivered that. The transport was comfortable, and the journey to Olympia went smoothly. The guide provided useful context about the site, though the explanations were fairly general. Still, it helped us appreciate what we were seeing without feeling overwhelmed. It’s more of an overview experience rather than a deep historical exploration, but it’s a good way to see Olympia in a limited time.
We had a brilliant visit to Olympia. We had problems with getting off our ship due to a very slow tendering process and they held the tour for a number of us having issues. We then had a wonderful trip. Theodora is a trained archaeologist and brilliant story teller. She brought the ruins and scene to life and took us back in time. Her knowledge was fabulous and I’d recommend it.
This was an amazing experience so much history our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. Highly recommend!!
it was very hot and not much shade for relief. There were 41 of us--too many for this location. Waited in line at least 30 minutes to get into the museum. Perhaps Viator could arrange special line for tours. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the site however his English was lacking. Huge negative one on the tour was in a wheel chair--all told her no problem however when we reached the site she was told she could not manage and to go down the hill to a restaurant and wait for us for 4 hours. So very cruel and unnecessary.
