Itinerary
Upon arrival at the cruise terminal, you’ll be warmly greeted by your professional team, ready to guide you on an unforgettable journey. Sit back and relax in comfort as you travel through the scenic Peloponnese countryside, passing olive groves, rolling hills, and picturesque villages en route to Ancient Olympia—the legendary birthplace of the Olympic Games.
Step back nearly 3,000 years into the heart of ancient sporting glory. This sacred site hosted the first Olympic Games in 776 BC, and even today, the Olympic Flame is lit here before every modern Games. Wander through the Temple of Zeus, once home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and visit the Temple of Hera, where the Olympic Torch begins its journey. Stroll the ancient gymnasium, athlete training grounds, and the original Olympic stadium—still echoing with the spirit of competition and once again used during the Athens 2004 Olympics. Run on the same track as ancient and modern athletes alike!
Deepen your journey with a visit to one of Greece’s most renowned museums, where the past unfolds with striking clarity. Step into galleries where history comes alive through the exquisite Hermes by Praxiteles, alongside timeless sculptures, precious artifacts, and everyday objects that reveal the rhythm of ancient life. Each display weaves together threads of mythology, athletic tradition, and divine legacy, offering a richer understanding of the world you’ve just walked through among the ruins. It’s the ideal complement to your site visit—adding depth, context, and wonder at every turn.
Enjoy your leisure time in the peaceful village of modern Olympia, home to fewer than 600 residents. Wander its cozy streets lined with local shops, family-run tavernas, and artisan boutiques, where you can savor Greek delicacies or find one-of-a-kind souvenirs to remember your visit.

Very good tour great experience and great guide. Work good with our schedule to go back to the cruise.
The seaside town of Katakolon is a beautiful area to walk, shop and dine. We thoroughly enjoyed the bus trip with our guide to Olympia. Lots of myths and history. I would recommend this trip.
we arrived in Katakolo, then travelled through beautiful green farm countryside to the Archaeological Site of Olympia and Archaeological Museum of Olympia , enjoying our tour guide, Theodora was great ! Her explanation of all this history , very informative and interesting, a great visit … then a ride though the town of Olympia and countryside back to our ship. We would highly recommend this excursion and tour guide Theodora !
Theodora was our guide. She had so much knowledge of Ancient Greece and actually grew up in this area so was able to share a lot of inside info into the culture. This tour was a good balance of history, culture and seeing the villages of Greece. Highly recommend.
Great tour , very knowledgeable tour guide. Would have liked to have extra time in the old town . You could skip the olive , oil and honey tasting to spend more time in town but samples very good
Our tour guide Theodora was excellent and very knowledgeable and we would recommend her as she was great!
To start with, not well organized. Thought I was with a different local tour company based on pre-tour information provided. Other people on the tour had the same problem.. Kept trying to find my tour. Called the tel number on my booking for local guide, got an answering service and didn't hear back until tour was over and then told to go to a brown bus? Person from "JAT", who turns out to be the local tour company and at the cruise site, was on the phone a lot before I could ask if I was on a JAT tour as deadline for tour had passed and not many folks around to ask. Tour had 40 people on it and booked, I assume, with Viator. In past much smaller numbers and very good experiences with Viator. Many of us on tour wondered if last minute changes were made to combine groups. Price of tour was way too high. Olympia site and museum at the site, on its own, not as interesting as other tours I took.....over-crowded, boring. too much time in a long line-up to even get into the museum and way too long overall for what there was to see. Had difficulty understanding what my tour guide was saying, as did many others. He only paid attention to those right around him. Hard to find the tour guide at times as he didn't have any sign which most guides have to hold high, made more difficult since the site was so crowded. He didn't add any interesting details on the surrounding area or the tour site. Maybe the guide had been an academic in history but again very boring tour. Given the price paid, should have at least had a bottle of water provided in the bus when we left the cruise site as a hot day. Even when tour was over and looking for bus, very confusing instructions given to find the bus at a certain time for return trip. The location of the bus ended up being different from what we were told initially. Some folks took awhile to find the bus. I took 4 tours through Viator of which 3 were very good. This one, for the price, was so disappointing will look at other options in future. Viator should be refunding a portion of the amount charged - not something I have ever asked for from a tour company before but such a large disappointment at the end of my travels.
We regret to hear that our services did not meet your expectations. Please allow us to address the concerns raised: 1. Please do not refer to other people unless you officially represent them. Please also note that your negative feedback is the only one received from the entire group. 2. The pickup location at the bus parking area of the cruise port has never changed and was clearly mentioned in the pickup instructions. 3. You booked a standard group tour. It has never been advertised as a private or even semi-private tour, which you insisted on when meeting your guide. We believe this may be where your disappointment stems from. 4. The price of this tour is always available on the Viator and Tripadvisor websites. 5. If local culture and archaeology are not of interest to you, you are free to book any other activity. The archaeological museum is clearly stated in the tour itinerary. 6. Not many guides in Europe speak American English; most speak accented international English. For better understanding and appreciation of different accents, we recommend travelling abroad more often. 7. No beverages or food is provided or listed among the tour inclusions. 8. Your refund request has been declined, as all services were delivered as advertised. When booking with Viator in the future, we strongly recommend basing your expectations on the tour description, itinerary, and inclusions rather than on personal assumptions. Safe travels
Theodora was great! We got off a bit late waiting on a family. I also think there were people added last minute. Group seemed large. I thought we were only supposed to have 40 max. Also since we had to wait on others we did not get an hour in Olympia. Pickup was great and got back to boat in plenty of time.
Tour guide was amazing. Worth the money. Would recommend to everyone. Really great information. Food was great !
This tour was very informative. Our guide, Theodora, was knowledgeable, friendly, and very interested in making the tour an enjoyable experience.
