We had an excellent tour of Bucharest with Marius, particularly the Communism tour, which was one of the highlights of our visit. Marius was extremely knowledgeable and explained the history of Romania, Ceaușescu and the communist period in a very clear and interesting way. He brought the history to life and made the whole tour easy to follow, even when covering quite a complicated period. What really stood out was how helpful he was beyond the tour itself. He also helped us organise other trips and gave us great advice on what to see and how best to spend our time in Romania. A genuinely friendly, professional and knowledgeable guide. I would have no hesitation recommending Marius to anyone visiting Bucharest. Definitely a five-star experience.
If you are looking for a specially curated tour on communism and its various aspects on the economy and country, look no further! The Communism Investigation tour by Marius (Discover Romania Tours) is just the perfect answer to that. Marius was so knowledgeable and patiently explained all the nuances, it really takes you back decades into the Communist years of Romania. He doesn’t just share about the era, but also sets the scene by explaining the deep history leading into the communist years. As I did my tour on a Monday, which is the official weekly day off for a few museums, he ensured I got something else in return - visit to the Palace of Parliament, where I witnessed the grandeur of it all - got my chance to witness the parliament/senate arch hall - my first ever such experience. Highly recommended!!
The tour was thoughtfully structured like a real investigation, complete with a Personal Investigation Dossier with insights at each historical sites we visited. We explored key locations tied to Romania’s communist era and the 1989 revolution, including the option to visit the infamous Spring Palace, Nicolae Ceaușescu’s former residence.
Comrade Marius was right in time to pick us up. He was full of knowledge and shared this knowledge throughout the day. We went to all the intersting places regarding Communism and the history of Romania. Thank you again!
A great tour you can't skip. Guide Marius really knows how to tell all about the most special places of the city. Not only from his general knowledge but also because of his personal interests. Perfect knowledge of the English language and a good sense of humour.
Excellent guide Marius, very knowledgeable and pleasant company. Well organised and attention to detail like giving us a welcome Romanian chocolate and giving us a dossier of the sites we visited as a souvenir
Our guide Marius was superb! We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Romanian communist period from someone as knowledgeable as Marius. He was also a very pleasant and enjoyable person. We highly recommend this tour.
Thank you once again for choosing our tour experience, and for your kind words of appreciation!
The guide was great but the title does not match what this was- it was a tour on the communism time period in Romania. We learned a lot, but it was not an “investigation”.
Thank you for your kind review! The title describes our tour activity, as it is detailed in the itinerary and overview. We visit the most relevant sites in Bucharest connected to the communist period and the Dictator's life, and the travelers are provided with the known and unknown stories using audio-visual testimonies, while at the end, individual printed handouts are given for collection as take-away from the tour. We regret not knowing if you had other expectations as we would have tried to personalize the tour experience further for you. Warm regards! Comrade Marius
I wrote a more extensive review for Marius on TripAdvisor for his company Discover Romania Tours. Here, I will say, you won’t regret any tour you book with Marius. He is knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and everything in between. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Marius again.
Thank you for both your kind reviews! We are happy to provide and always strive to offer personalized experiences to all our travelers. It's been a pleasure for us too to accompany you during your trip in Romania. We look forward to welcome you back! Comrade Marius
