Itinerary
Visit Rome's symbolic monument with a tour that makes it easy and fun for all ages. Explore ancient Roman history in the comfort of a private group. Visit Colosseum's first and second tiers; learn about the thrilling games and bloody battles that were held inside and marvel at the incredible and innovative techniques of construction invented by the Romans in building the Colosseum.
Explore the site of an older settlement from the 9th century BC. Enjoy an impressive view of the Circus Maximus and the valley of the Roman Forum, and learn about the legend of Romulus and Remus, the abandoned brothers raised by a wolf who fought each other for power and control.
Visit one of the most important archaeological areas in the world with some of Ancient Rome's most evocative ruins, including the Temple of Julius Caesar, Arch of Titus, House of the Vestal Virgins, Senate House and Basilica of Maxentius. Admire the Roman Forum's Sacred Way, the triumphal road where the Centurions of Caesar marched after their return from countless battles and conquests.
The Arch of Constantine (Italian: Arco di Costantino) is a triumphal arch in Rome dedicated to the emperor Constantine the Great. The arch was commissioned by the Roman Senate to commemorate Constantine's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge in AD 312. Situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill, the arch spans the Via Triumphalis, the route taken by victorious military leaders when they entered the city in a triumphal procession. [a] Dedicated in 315, it is the largest Roman triumphal arch, with overall dimensions of[1] 21 m (69 ft) high, 25.9 m (85 ft) wide and 7.4 m (24 ft) deep. It has three bays, the central one being 11.5 m (38 ft) high and 6.5 m (21 ft) wide and the laterals 7.4 m (24 ft) by 3.4 m (11 ft) each. The arch is constructed of brick-faced concrete covered in marble. The three-bay design with detached columns was first used for the Arch of Septimius Severus in the Roman Forum and repeated in several other arches now lost.

We have toured the Colosseum before in a large group, but did the arena floor tour as a private tour and it was really fantastic! It really moved at our pace and we had time to focus on what was of particular interest to us. Also, our guide was fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable and very enjoyable. A really great part of our trip!

Great explanation, lots of background info, highly recommended. Of course, a lot of interaction is also possible in the small private group

Eve was a great tour guide! We learned alot about the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. She answered all our questions and was very willing to take pictures. She pointed out spots where you could see the original plasterwork and had a handy book that had colorized images of the same places in ancient times and today.

Guide was very knowledgeable! She also was able to customize parts of the tour based on sun and shade. Also took some great family photos for us.
“We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed your tour! Our guides love sharing their knowledge and always try to make the experience as comfortable and personalized as possible. It’s wonderful that she could adjust the route for sun and shade — and capture those special family moments too. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you back to Rome soon!”
Very pricey IMO, but our Tour Guide, Giorgio, was very knowledgeable and the company he works for "Tour in the City" had excellent communication and was on time 👍👍 However, we did not have such good luck with our first 2 bookings through VIATOR. They sold us 2 different ones and then later canceled them, claiming they were full, while still showing them as available on their website 🤦
Our guide, Lara, was simply wonderful. She was very informative and engaging. We were just stunned at the beauty of St. Peter's. Sadly the Sistine Chapel was not allowing visitors for the conclave.
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He was very helpful and understanding with our trouble in walking too much. Wonderful experience.
