Before you begin your tour, each child will receive a bag with an interactive booklet and other useful gadgets that will make them truly feel like little archaeologists. Follow your guide and begin your journey through ancient Roman history! Your tour will begin at one of the most beautiful monuments of Rome – the Colosseum. Admire ancient Rome’s iconic accomplishment, a perfect backdrop for a family photo. Make sure your children are listening carefully and have their booklet in hand! Learn about the gladiator games and the wild animal hunts as you walk through this 2000 year old landmark of Rome. Climb your way up to the second tier of the Colosseum where you can imagine the deafening applause during the bloody games. Pretend to catch a glimpse of the Emperor as he decided the fate of the poor souls in the arena.
The impressive Roman Forum is an explorer’s paradise and your interactive booklet will help you learn the stories of “downtown” Rome. Climb over ancient ruins and even drink from genuine Roman fountain! The history of this site is sure to appeal to children and adults! Our final stop leads us to the remains of the temple of ancient history’s most famous character, Julius Gaius Caesar. Our guide will make sure you explore the Roman Forum up, down and around. Booked early tour to beat the heat and skip the lines - and it worked. Tour guide worked well with our kids and grandkids by involving them in the stories. Nice pace. Recommend
Elisa was a wonderful guide! Our family had an incredible tour- Elisa was so kind and especially thoughtful with our two young kids. She made the entire tour more engaging for them, ages 7&5. Otherwise we would not have been able to manage a normal tour on a hot day. She swiftly guided us through all lines. Highly recommend!
Emmanuel was excellent right from the start. Full of energy and so knowledgeable but at a level that was great for our kids (9 and 11) but also for us adults! Very friendly and considerate of the kids as they got hotter! Would thoroughly recommend!
Our kid-friendly private tour of the Colosseum and the Forum with Marta was fantastic. We had three generations with us, including kids ages 7, 10 and 12, and she somehow managed to keep everyone engaged and learning—even in 95+ degree heat! Marta made the history incredibly interactive for the kids, using books, pictures, maps, a scavenger hunt and little clues along the way. (They love the activity book and bag she gifted them at the end!) She was able to tailor what she was explaining to each of their ages with ease. At the same time, she gave the adults additional details and went deeper into the history with us. I honestly think I learned more with Marta than I would have on an adults-only tour. She did a wonderful job of weaving in the larger history of Rome—from Nero’s lake to how the Colosseum was ultimately saved—which helped all of us understand what we were seeing rather than simply walking through the site. Marta was also excellent logistically. She knew exactly where to find shade, water and restrooms and paced the tour beautifully for our family. Keeping a 7-year-old, a 10-year-old, a 12-year-old, their parents and grandparents entertained and comfortable through that kind of heat is no small accomplishment. The best review, though, came from our 7-year-old. When I asked him how many stars Marta deserved, he said, “20 stars for Marta!” Despite being quiet from the heat he has been talking about what he learned since we got back. The boys had been incredibly excited to visit the Colosseum, and Marta made the experience live up to that excitement. We also had a very good experience with LivTours overall. Booking was easy, and we appreciated the reminders sent a few days before the tour as well as shortly beforehand with clear instructions about where to meet. I would absolutely recommend Marta and LivTours to families visiting the Colosseum, particularly families traveling with children of different ages. We will look for other tours from Liv!
