¡Que saboroso el cafe! Wonderfully flavored coffee!

Among all our experiences in Peru-Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu, Cusco, and this coffee experience -Coffee Farm Experience was our favorite. My husband and I went together, yet this could easily be a teen family or business excursion. Part way through our tour, a high school group came to tge farm as well. Learning the process from identifying ripe coffee cherries to traditional roasting and grinding to the first glorious sip, this whole day was magnificent. The guide David was the translator as needed when our Spanish was not sufficient between us and the family who own and run the organic farm. From Cusco, be prepared for a long 2-3 hour ride to and from the farm. Which is not wasted time either! You'll learn all you might want to know about the coffee industry, living in the area, traditonal customs and modern trends, and more. Totally a worthy use of funds and time. We bought a bag of coffee to bring home, in addition to the coffee beans we roasted ourselves.

1 day coffee tour

We really enjoyed the one day coffee tour! The guide was very knowledgeable about coffee and it was interesting to learn more about the production of coffee. The family was lovely, we ate delicious food and I especially loved the walk through the coffee trees. I highly recommend this tour, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru!

Great tour! Super informative and fun! Top notch guide, driver and family hosts.

We agree with the previous review, while it was a long day, it was worth it. Sebastian’s driving made a nervous passenger who does not like heights, very comfortable. David’s knowledge, not only of the coffee industry and farming, but also of related topics such as cacao farming and the history of agricultural reforms in Peru was outstanding. The family Perez could not have been more welcoming or kind. They also have a great sense of humor which made our time on their farm even more enjoyable. We learned so much about coffee plants and farming and how family farms deal with all of the challenges, ecological and economic. They do a great job of involving you in the process from start to finish, and have inspired us to check out the top rated coffee shops in Cusco and Lima. When they tell you to bring insect repellent, it’s no joke. Apply it heavily, and when you peal off a layer because you are getting hot, stop to apply more. This tour is an amazing opportunity to understand where your coffee comes from, what goes into it, and how the entire industry works. If you have the time, make this tour part of your visit to Peru.

1 day coffee tour

We did the 1D Coffee Tour from Cusco with David. Although the drive was quite long (around 4 hours each way), it was worth it! We made stops along the way to appreciate the views, and also enjoy a coffee en route at an independent seller (best coffee I have had in South America in 3 months!). The family at the farm were very hospitable and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the entire coffee process from picking the beans, through to roasting and tasting them. David was a great guide and had excellent English as well as a thorough knowledge of all things coffee! Definitely worth the money, a unique and personalised experience for any coffee lover 😊 ☕ (it is also worth noting that the car was very comfy and the driver, Sebastián, made us feel safe on the drive)
