Civitavecchia Shore Excursion to Rome Private Tour

Our family of four traveled all the way from Hawaii, USA, to Italy as part of our Mediterranean cruise, and our private Rome & Vatican tour with Federico was truly one of the highlights of our trip. If we could give more than 5 stars, we absolutely would! We especially love supporting family-owned businesses, so it was wonderful to have such a personal and memorable experience with a local company. Federico was an outstanding guide and driver. Being from the area, he shared wonderful knowledge of Rome’s history, geography, culture, landmarks, and local life, which gave us a much deeper appreciation for everything we were seeing. As visitors from Hawaii, we especially enjoyed hearing his local perspective and learning about Rome from someone who knows the area so well. He was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with. Most importantly, we always felt safe and well taken care of. Federico was an excellent driver, and his Mercedes van was spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable for our family of four, and—most importantly during the Italian summer—had excellent working air conditioning! We also really enjoyed the private guided Vatican tour with Riccardo, a knowledgeable local guide arranged through the same company. The coordination and timing were excellent. Everything worked together seamlessly, and we were still able to see all of the attractions on our list without feeling rushed. We were able to see so much of Rome while still feeling comfortable and relaxed throughout the day. Federico made navigating the city easy and stress-free, and his knowledge brought the history and sights to life. Our pickup at the cruise pier was slightly delayed, but once we were on our way, we had an absolutely wonderful day, and Federico made the rest of our experience exceptional. We would highly recommend Federico and Shore Excursions In Italy to our friends and family and would absolutely book with them again if we return to Rome. We came all the way from Hawaii, and Federico and Riccardo helped make our day in Rome a truly memorable part of our European adventure. Timeline was tight to get into Roma for a shore excursion to the Colosseum and the Vatican. Our driver was a huge help to make that possible and comfortable. Highly recommend if you only have one day to hit Roma starting from the port…

I would very highly recommend Shore Excursions in Italy, after our wonderful experience in Rome May 2026. Our driver, Frederico, was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable, not to mention a good, safe driver. We were picked up literally steps from our ship. Also. we received very prompt replies to all our communications with Monica, she was terrific. We were very impressed with all facets of this company. They would receive my highest recommendation.

I don’t think we could have navigated Rome without Jose our driver in the 8h shore time. We were able to see the Colosseum underground and floor (separate tickets). He dropped us off on time and exactly where we needed to be. Then picked us up for a visit to Vatican museums (separate tickets). Got us on time to get back to ship. We were able to catch lunch at a bistro and visit Trevi fountain too and at the end he was able to take us to the best view of Rome

Marco was great! He made sure we were able to visit all the sites on our wishlist. We visited the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain

Fabulous private tour of Rome with Riccardo. Dropped at so close to all the sites and was there immediately when finished. He was a brilliant guide and had a really comfortable car. Thank you for making Rome memorable.

The guide from Shore excursions Italy was great. He tried to get us tickets for inside the Colloseum and Vatican, but was unable to. The reason for this was the confusion with my initial phone conversation with Viator, as I asked if they could book both of these skip the line tours. The agent gave me the price and a reserved time for both. He said that with my reserved times I just needed to inform our driver and he would take care of ticketing. The driver said he is not responsible but would try. Communicating with Viator was difficult. The rating for the driver would be 5. Viator would be 1. When I first talked with Viror and told them what I wanted for the Rome tour, I believed the price included the tickets.

we had a great time during our time in Rome. Our driver had great skills for communicating the history of the different places we were visiting. He adjusted to our needs and planned with us the trip. He would tell us amazing facts about the places and he truly liked to guide people around the city. Would recommend him 100%.

This private tour was everything I had hoped for! Riccardo met us at the boat with a sign with our names. We rode in luxury in a new Mercedes van. He got us to every destination on time and made sure that we were in the right line and had ample time to sightsee. We had a short time to see all of Rome and we did everything. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny! I highly recommend this tour and this company!
