Great tour by Avery but to be expected from a Central Michigan University graduate!! Thank you for the tour. Perfect for guests from another country.
The tour guide, Avery, inserts a fair amount of trivia into the narration instead of sticking to the highlights. He also exaggerated some stories. For example, he claims that Navy Pier was used as a jail, and that it was inhumane because the winters were so cold. In reality, the Pier had a jail only for one summer. His recounting of H.H. Holmes murder spree was full of debunked exaggerations, emphasizing the yellow journalism of the late 19th century rather than the historical facts we know today. I read online that the Upper Midwest has a strong tradition of generating tall tales, so perhaps the guide's narration introduces tourists to that? If so, perhaps he should announce that in advance. He also drove off without me at one of the stops, later claiming that he was asked to move. Still he could have texted me; instead I had to call him. I also found the use of my phone number to text me a request for a tip w/ his Venmo info unusual.
This tour hit the major landmarks in Chicago, but was way overpriced for only 2 hours. It does workout if you don’t want to uber to your destinations, or have only a short period of time in Chicago
Since our flight out of Chicago got canceled we decided to try and see a little of Chicago so we googled tours and this one came up with some availability. So glad we did it, the tour gives you a taste for all the things you can go and see in Chicago-and there is a lot to see. Made a few photo op stops along the way as well. Our tour guide, Rick was very good and informative and gave ideas for places to eat as well. Would highly recommend this tour. If we had more time we would have added the architectural boat tour as well.
Great tour and very informative with Rick………. Will do it again with my family next time I visit………..
Avery, was our tour guide. I am in my eighties and have both traveled and lived abroad. On a scale of 10 I would give Avery a strong 13. His grasp of Chicago history was impeccable. His professionalism coupled with personal skills was remarkable. A LOST ART TODAY IN OUR CULTURE. Dr. HB and CB
The small bus was ideal. Rick the tour guide was great. We took it on a Sunday in a couple things were closed so he took us out of the way to show us a few extra sites.
Driver was terrific and funny.
Very informative tour. Guide and driver Rick was very nice and gave a lot of information and suggestions for food and things to do after the tour.
What a fun experience! Avery was the best! He was so funny, very knowledgeable and an all around great tour guide. I highly recommend this tour.
