Skeletons in the Closet Tour with Gia was a highlight of our trip!!!! Gia was very knowledgeable and fun!!! Highly recommend.
We had the best time on the Skeletons in the Closet tour with Gia. She is so knowledgeable and a lot of fun to learn from! Highly recommend
I had such a great time on my first Walk and Talk tour (several years ago) that I've since returned to try out some of their specialty tours as well! The historic gossip tour is a great introduction to the city, and Tyler is just chock full of information and fun stories. I appreciated the acknowledgements of the dark side of American history too, that it's not just glossed over. I've returned for a variety of specialty tours, and enjoyed each of them too! There's a gallery tour that visits art galleries and other small businesses, and Tyler's connections with the gallerists made us guests feel so welcome and special. I also recommend Layton's garden tour in the spring, he's got an amazing wealth of knowledge of the natural history of the Carolinas. Gia was my guide on the ghost tour, and she had amazing stories to share from her time growing up in Charleston, and is such a fun and funky person who instantly makes you feel like an old friend. I'm looking forward to my next trip to the city and seeing what else Walk and Talk has in store!
Tyler was very knowledgeable about all the Charleston history and architecture. We appreciated all her details. Highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our personalized tour with Layton, the nicest guy around! We learned so much and both of our teens remained attentive and interested the whole time. Highly recommend. Thanks Layton!
Wow after a handful of tours in Charleston (as a local), Tyler was outstanding. She gave an honest and interesting tour packed with tons of information. On the ride home, my dad and I couldn’t pick a favorite. It’s refreshing to hear someone speak about the history of our city with integrity. Highly recommend!!!
Visiting Charleston for New Year’s. Was told to do the Lid Lady’s walking tour. Our family of 5 (wife, daughter, daughter, son in law, and me) thoroughly enjoyed our walking with her and listening to her history stories of the city while also taking in the architectural beauty of Charleston. It was the best 2 hours of our trip. She was phenomenal.
I’ve been to Charleston before and enjoyed a fabulous walking tour, so wanted my husband to experience the same. The tour company from before did not have availability, so I chose this company. It was just us and the tour guide, so that was special and also odd. Why wasn’t there other customers? The guide showed us old maps on her phone. OK let me get my glasses. Would be nice if she had a laminated 8.5 x 11 map if she wanted a group to see it. We only walked in the old/walled Charleston. I felt like I was in history class. I LOVE history, but we stopped so often for her to talk that we weren’t walking! She pointed to things - “George Washington stayed in that house.” as she pointed down the street. Which house? The 3rd one? The white one? Can we see the house? That’s just an example. Since it was just us on the tour, we were able to stop for a bathroom break and buy some water. That was nice. Since I had something for comparison I’d give her 3 stars. My husband enjoyed it, so I’m giving her 4. Cost was $80 for two and I gave her a $20 tip.
Tyler of walk and talk Charleston is an amazing gifted storyteller and historian. Any of her tours would be the best thing you can do while in the city!
Couldn't recommend this tour more highly! We had a small group and our guide was very knowledgeable. Charleston is such a beautiful city and it was so interesting to dive deeper into the history. I'm so glad I did this tour at the beginning of my trip as it gave me the lay of the land and helped me take in my surroundings. I really feel like I have a much better understanding of why Charleston is so unique.
