A unique experience where you'll learn the secrets of sour-dough. My mum is a sourdough expert. She learnt the bread baking technique from her grandmother and keeps doing it even now. You will prepare and bake your own-unique bread loaf in a wood-fire oven. Later you will enjoy it and combine it with our herb-flavoured extra-virgin olive oil. You’ll also taste some side dishes we’ll prepare and copious amounts of local wine.

Can highly recommend We loved making bread which tasted delicious along with the other food we made and had cooked for us
We did the Sourdough class on Thursday 17th September and can't recommend it highly enough. Myself and my better half were the only two in the afternoon/evening class and we were made to feel like family, firstly by Alex who picked us up from Chania and then Nikos, our wonderful host. We were told all about the history of the area, were showed around the wonderful herb garden and we got to meet the friendliest dogs around. The breads that were made were delicious as were all the other dishes that were created. If you're in the Chania area and have a few hours to spare then book this class, you won't be disappointed.
We did the sourdough bread-baking class and olive oil tasting during our honeymoon, and it was such a fun, authentic experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed. The class was hands-on, relaxed, and genuinely fun, and we learned so much — not only about making traditional bread, but about Cretan food and culture as well. The olive oil tasting was fantastic, the food was delicious, and we loved that they sent us home with the recipes so we can try to recreate everything ourselves. It felt much more personal than a typical tourist activity, which made it especially memorable. We did so many different things during our 10 days in Greece, and this was such a wonderful way to spend part of our time in Crete. We would absolutely recommend Veerna’s Kitchen to anyone visiting Chania who wants an authentic, hands-on experience and some truly wonderful hosts. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for giving us another special honeymoon memory! ❤️🇬🇷
We took the bread-making class, and it was fantastic! Not only did we get to make our own bread, but we also had the chance to taste all the delicious dishes prepared by the other cooking class. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. What made the experience truly special was the warm hospitality. We were welcomed like family, and the entire class felt like a genuine, authentic experience in Crete. If you’re visiting, I highly recommend it—you’ll leave with wonderful memories, amazing food, and an experience you’ll always remember.
Great experience, a magnificent moment of sharing with my two teenagers. Despite our very poor level of English, we learned a huge amount. The welcome is exceptional: kind, generous, and full of humor. Everything takes place in a peaceful atmosphere, among the olive trees, with the scents of oregano, basil, and mint perfuming the air. Lunch is convivial and delicious, and we leave proudly with our breads garnished with olives, feta, and garlic, prepared with our own hands. A wonderful family, who transmits their good humor, their complicity, and their optimism. An authentic experience that we will not forget. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We had a great time. Nikos and Alex were very hospitable, fun, entertaining. We learned about sourdough of course, but also talked about and smelled all of their herbs and ate plenty of their family olive oil. As great as the hosts were, the best part was the food. The sourdough was fantastic paired with their olive oil and a feta/veggie spread (which i can’t remember the name of) that was one of the best things I’ve had in Greece. The rest of the food was great too. We had a really nice meal. The hosts ate with us and the other guests after we baked our bread and we just talked about our homes and travel adventures. Would highly recommend.
My wife and I loved the sourdough class so much! All of the food was so delicious and there is plenty of downtime to walk through the garden, get a tour of the olive grove, and enjoy some amazing lemonade. We even took some starter home and are now making sourdough loaves courtesy of Veerna.
Had a fun time! Good vibes, great host and learned new things. Highly recommend if you're looking for something fun to do for the day.
This experience can only be described as outstanding! We are a mature family of four traveling with our elderly but active and vibrant mother. All of our expectations were surpassed! Our host, Nikos was outstandingl! He’s an amazing teacher and cook. We actually had the pleasure of meeting the whole family as they came in to work but Nikos led the class with the help of his nephew, Alex. In addition to making bread, we made traditional Greek foods while we waited. Nikos is very engaging, funny and friendly. We enjoyed making and breaking bread with him. The facility is gorgeous ! It’s absolutely beautiful and very comfortable, perfect for cooking classes. I also loved the garden and Nikos gave us tour of it and the olive orchard. Everything we ate and drank was delicious! We left with our leftover bread and quite a bit of other food as well. If you want an amazing authentic food experience, don’t miss this! The price should really be double for what you get.
We had a wonderful time at the sourdough making and olive oil tasting class. Nikos was an excellent host who made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. He shared recipes that have been passed down through his family for generations, and the bread and food we made were absolutely delicious. He also gave us a fascinating insight into the olive oil production process, explaining how it’s made and guiding us through tasting the different varieties and their unique flavours. It was a warm, authentic, and memorable experience, and I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a taste of local tradition and hospitality.
