This experience is going to give you the opportunity to taste an abundance of local products, from the greatest Cretan producers. From the classic Raki / Tsikoudia, to Cretan Bougatsa, the local varieties of local Cheese, olives, and even the very best sweets. In order to make this tour unique, we have added a visit to a local herbs and products store, (which, among locals, is considered the most secret gem) and also a visit to the best traditional manufacturer of Cretan knives. We visit both the modern and the old town. We get to see on our way, the Market (which is under reconstruction) the charming narrow streets of the old town and the beauty of the Venetian Port. Christos is a phenomenal host. He grew up in Chania his whole life and knows the restaurant owners personally and their stories. He is charismatic and is so willing to answer any questions you may have on the food or lifestyle here. We learned so much on our tour, and he gave us additional recommendations after we were completed for the rest of our stay. Perfect experience, highly recommend to all travelers!

Our guide John took us around Chania and we stopped at numerous businesses to try their offerings. The servings were very generous and in the end more than I could eat. Hands down I had the best chicken souvlaki and enjoyed the wide variety of things we tasted. Near the end of the tour we went to an herbal shop where the owner shared his broad knowledge of local herbs and their uses. John had a deep knowledge of the island, its food and people. He regaled us with stories while we were busy eating and we really enjoyed this personal touch. On this tour you will get more than your money’s worth!

Christos was incredible! Not only did he take us on the most authentic food experience, he was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. He was extremely accommodating, as we booked last minute. The places he took us to were not touristy locations, but rather where the locals eat and that was exactly what we were looking for. He even provided us with extra “must dos and eats” to continue our exploration in Chania. The unique blend of cuisine allowed us to truly get a taste for Cretan dishes. We came hungry and left with extremely full bellies and new knowledge. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a unique experience with a lovely tour guide!
Christos took us to the best spots to try a variety of food. Everything was amazing! He also showed us a few areas around town just for sightseeing purposes which was very much appreciated as we needed a little walking after all the food we ate. Highly recommend this tour! If/when we can make it back here, we will definitely book again with Christos!
Christos provided an excellent tour of Chania with delicious food from a local. The stops were thoughtfully selected and were expecting us. We especially enjoyed the herb store and learning about how they’re used in Crete. Highly recommend this experience.
This was such an amazing experience. Christos was so friendly and knowledgeable about the food all over Chania and Crete. Everywhere he took us was excellent and the food didn’t stop coming. We had snacks for the next day! I couldn’t recommend this anymore, amazing value and great company from Christos!
Christos went out of his way to make the tour a brilliant experience. He knew the food venues and their owners really well and he had clearly done his research. There was a good variety too. The herb store and the olive oil store were especially good experiences. There was more than enough food for us to have lunch as part of the tour.
