We had difficulty locating the meeting place. My wife asked multiple people that worked at the resort and they acted like they never heard of this dinner cruise. We left the resort to try to locate the boat. My wife called the number on the reservations and nobody answered at that time. About 10 minutes past and we get a return call from the Dinner Cruise giving us better instructions. Once we arrived back at the resort they told us our reservations were for the next business day. My wife showed them her confirmation, they said that they could fit us in but we wouldn't get all the food they typically offered. So with all the disorganized confusion we cancelled our reservations and left.
A dinner cruise should feel special, but this one was an overpriced floating dinner. The food was dry and cold, the vegetables were mushy, and everything tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. We booked this sunset dinner cruise to celebrate our anniversary, and it turned out to be the most disappointing night of our vacation. For the high price per ticket, we expected a romantic evening on the water. Instead, we got a chaotic, low-quality experience from start to finish.
I had really been looking forward to seeing Lake Powell. It's one of my bucket list items. But this dinner cruise turned out to be a disaster from the start. Once we arrived at the marina we could not find out where to go. There was a "boat tours" desk but no one was at it. With only 30 minutes until we were supposed to be on the boat I called the number listed on my confirmation, no answer so I left a message. We decided to go and see if we could find someone to help us but no one we asked could tell us where we needed to be. After a few minutes I got a call back. They told me to come back to the boat tours desk. There they told me that they had me booked on the Saturday cruise. I showed them my confirmation that clearly said Friday. After making a phone call they said that they could fit us in on the Friday cruise but since they had put us on the wrong night that there would not be enough food for us. This was supposed to be our anniversary dinner. Because I really wanted to see Lake Powell we reluctantly agreed. We were shuttled down to the marina and got on the boat. The gentleman who helped us on to the boat was very nice, but once on board is where it really went wrong. My husband was in front of me and I smiled and said hello to the waiter. The waiter immediately held up one finger to me and said "Just a minute I need to go deal with this guy. He doesn't know where to sit". I tried to tell him that was my husband and he could just tell me where to sit but he looked at me and said "I don't care". Then he stormed over and immediately became confrontational with my husband saying "You don't just walk by me!" The waiter got so mad so fast that it actually scared me. He then told us to get off his boat. So we left. Since nobody expected someone to be getting off the boat within 5 minutes of getting on it there was no one to take us back up to the resort. We had to walk back. Up hill. I'm recovering from a knee injury so this was very hard on me. Luckily about halfway back up a gentleman who worked for the resort came by in a golf cart and gave us a ride back to the top. It totally ruined our romantoc anniversary dinner and I still haven't seen Lake Powell since we had to leave the next morning. This waiter really needs some anger management classes.
It was nothing but a total disaster to do this tour. You can see the exact same landscape from the shore. The food quality was about what you get from a Dennys. We had to ask the wait staff multiple times for refills, then they acted like it was inconvenient for them. Don't waste your money with this bunch.
This was wonderful. Our meal was excellent. I had the beef tenderloin and my husband had the salmon. Both dishes were cooked perfectly. The salad was simple but so good. The homemade cream puff was amazing. Carlos did an outstanding job and was so friendly. The scenery was absolutely incredible. The sunset as we were coming in was beautiful. Highly recommend this cruise.
This is a totally enjoyable evening on the water. Food was excellent! Carlos took great care of us all. And the views were just breathtaking the entire cruise; ending with a spectacular sunset. We did this 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. This time was even better!
I was glad that we booked the sunset dinner cruise on Lake Powell. It's pricy, but you get a dinner along with a boat ride at the best time of the day when the rocks are lit up by the setting sun. We arrived at the Lake Powell Resort a half hour before our cruise time, and waited about 15 minutes before we were called outside for a short walk down to where an open-air shuttle drives passengers down to the boat. The boat is clean and the table settings were elegant. Tables were assigned and we found our name. Alcohol is available for purchase, but I opted for the included lemonade, which was very good. Salad bowls were on the table - greens, shredded mozzarella, and blackberries, served with little pitchers of ranch dressing. The rolls and butter were excellent. I'd describe the dinner as what you would get at a banquet, not gourmet, but decent. Several choices are available - beef, salmon, chicken, and vegetarian. We both opted for the beef, which was served with gravy, mashed potatoes, and roasted carrots. A small custard-filled eclair topped with whipped cream and a raspberry was the dessert. Carlos did an excellent job of serving and cleaning up after us. The best part was seeing all the beautiful rock formations on Lake Powell. The cruise was 2 hours long, and the sun set about an hour into the ride. It's still light for a while after sunset, but by the time we returned it was dark. If I were in charge of scheduling, I'd have the boat leave earlier so that you aren't sailing in darkness. Tips: Go up on the open air top deck for more views. Bring a jacket since you will be on an open-air shuttle returning to the lodge after dark. Bring some cash to tip the host/server. Talk to the other guests - we really enjoyed speaking with the other folks we met on the cruise.
Amazing cruise just before sunset, great service from the entire crew. Captain Ursula was entertaining! And Carlos our host, barman was absolutely incredible. Very professional and super nice!
We went out on the Canyon Princess with my wife and 2 friends . It was nicely done with a great view of the lake. Great accommodations including inside AC and fantail tables and decks. Capt Ursula keep entertained and the crew of Lori, Koda, and Kim. They catered to all needs and even sang us Native American songs! Highly recommend this tour.
