Description
Unlike other areas of Panaji, the Campal heritage area is unique in its nature and characteristics. The street pattern consists of a grid iron pattern and only residential houses fully self sufficient in their needs and demands. Every house is different in its character, accessible with well tarred roads, parking space and compound is housed with ornamental railings carved in stones, and a distinct construction technology used to construct these houses.
Basically, a formal layout with a garden (Jardin de Francisco Luis Gomes) facing the river front as focal point. Campal lies along river Mandovi and predominantly a residential area, occupied by higher economic group of population. The area is serene and tranquil away from the main hub of activity.

Kala Academy is a prominent cultural centre run by the Government of Goa, in Goa, India. Situated at Campal, Panjim, it is registered as a society, and was started in February 1970. The building was designed by Charles Correa.

A wonderful journey for all five senses
Rachna, the storyteller, made Campal come alive for me in the most beautiful way. 🌿
Walking along the riverfront, gazing across at the forts, discovering the stories of the sandbars and learning about Campal’s gardens and hidden gems — every step revealed another little piece of Goa.
And then there was the spontaneous music, the flavours, the shopping and the unexpected delights — a wonderful journey for all five senses. 🎶🌸

Campal heritage walk with vimla

Great experience learning about Goa
I had a great tour with Yashavi. We visited some beautiful streets and buildings, learning about the culture on the way. I loved the cafe we stopped off at as well. A great experience overall

Great walking tour of Campal.
Lovely walking tour of Campal with our knowledgeable and enthusiastic storyteller Trancy. We enjoyed refreshments in a heritage hotel and listened to some great live music as part of the tour. The tour gave us a good insight into the fascinating history of Goa and its people.

Historic Campal Tour
Enjoyed the Campal tour- lots of learnings about the history, Monuments and the live music was a nice touch.

Campal walk with Make It Happen
This walk was my first introduction to Make It Happen - and Vimala was the perfect person to introduce me to Campal. I had a lovely time walking around the beautiful neighborhood, being treated to a musical concert by a Goan musician, taking a break with a kokum drink and getting the glimpse of the history. Don't miss the walk, esp if you are staying in and around Panjim.

Dwelling into the Goa's Heritage
It was a great experience for me. I really got to know about the campal's history and was literally feeling that I got back to the times when I saw the old monuments and architecture. The planned part of the city - Campal region.
