Cairo Alexandria 5 Days 4 Nights (Egypt Short Break)

My kids loved the pool at the Hilton Pyramids hotel. They swam every day after the tours. Our guide Nabila took us to the Grand Egyptian Museum which was amazing. We then visited the pyramids and the Sphinx. The private transfers were comfortable and had AC. Alexandria was a fun day trip with the library. The whole 5 days were fun and educational. Admission fee was reasonable for the package. Length of visit was 5 days. Atmosphere was family friendly and fun. Crowd size was about 12 people in our group. Staff were great with children. Best for families who love swimming. Yasser had given them pool toys.

My wife loved the Coptic Cairo tour. She visited the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Our guide Adel explained the history with passion. My friend slept through the entire narration of the Karnak sound and light show. He was exhausted. Our guide Sherif let him sleep and woke him at the end. He missed the stories but enjoyed the lights. The show itself was spectacular with colorful lights. The atmosphere was magical. The crowd was large but organized. This show is best for people who are well rested. The tour company was professional and transparent. Yasser had told us to get some rest beforehand.

We visited the Giza Plateau and seeing the pyramids up close was hot and dusty but worth every second. The sheer scale messes with your mind. I just stood there for a while trying to figure out how humans stacked such heavy stones. It is a mystery that feels heavier in real life than in books.

The long drive back from Alexandria was surprisingly comfortable because our driver Hassan knew exactly when to turn on the AC and when to play soft music. We dozed off in the back seat feeling like we were in a luxury train cabin. It was a quiet and restful end to a busy sightseeing day.

I visited the huge statue in the Grand Egyptian Museum and the high ceilings made it look like the king was floating. I just found a bench and watched the light change around the stone for half an hour. It was my quietest moment in busy Cairo and the most meaningful one for me.

We asked our driver Mohamed to stop for a snack and he bought us the most amazing street food falafel we have ever tasted. We ate it right there on the sidewalk laughing at the mess. It was not part of the official plan but it became the highlight of our entire Alexandria trip.

We walked through the Pyramids of Giza and then headed to the Civilization Museum to see the mummies. It was the perfect order of the day. We saw the massive tombs first and then later saw the kings who rested inside them. It completed the whole life and death story beautifully.
