Beautiful Australian bush. Arthur Boyd’s life and art .

We visited the art museum then had lunch then drove down to his homestead close by. Beautiful Australian bush and lots of wild life to spot. The cafe had a limited menu over the long weekend. Well worth an afternoon to immerse yourself into Arthur Boyd’s life.

Disappointing

Underwhelmed It was lovely to visit - the cafe and natural environment. The Boyd’s were a delight to wander through. Problem is there are too few. The other exhibits during our visit certainly weren’t worthy of being hosted in the same exhibition space as Boyd. Certainly, they provided contrast - but honestly they could have invited the Year 12 students from the local high school to offer work and it would have had the same impact. A disappointing experience over all. Especially given how long it takes to get here.

Dear Happyhouse101, Thank you for taking the time to write. The Homestead is a must if you choose to visit again. Complimentary to the Boyd artwork at the Art Museum, the Homestead is dedicated to Arthur Boyd and the extended family with more than 100 artworks on display. We host three exhibition seasons per year. Like all art, it's always up for interpretation and not every season resonates as strongly with some as it might others. We do however dedicate 1 of those seasons each year entirely to Arthur Boyd and Boyd collections. Last exhibition highlighted The Boyd Women. I am sorry to hear you were underwhelmed by your visit but do hope you are able to visit again for a future exhibition season soon, and to view The Homestead and Arthur Boyd Studio. Warm wishes, Patrick

Lovely location. Small, nice gallery

Had an enjoyable lunch and a wander through the gallery. Beautiful location and the buildings are a work of art. Very dramatic and interesting. Fantastic exhibition of aboriginal artwork in the large gallery and a collection of Arthur Boyd works in another. I am definitely not a fan of Arthur Boyd’s work but I enjoyed visiting his part of the world. Will return on a weekend so we can visit his homestead and see more art.
