A special architectural Boston tour

We were very fortunate to have Saba as our tour guide who was very knowledgeable, warm and interesting. Even though I had lived in Boston before, I had never been inside the amazing Boston Public Library, the Fairnount Copley Hotel or the Old South church. The architecture tour was wonderful. And walking en route to the Boston park filled with flowers-in-bloom, we were delighted to see the many hand-made elephants in person. We would highly recommend this tour.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful 5⭐️ review and kind words, Arlene! It was such a pleasure sharing Boston’s architecture and history with you and your friend. I’m glad you both enjoyed our walk through the Boston Public Garden in full bloom, as well as the Great Elephant Migration exhibit on Commonwealth Avenue before the elephants migrate out of Boston on September 13. I really enjoyed my time with you both and appreciated your great interest in the commentary and photo ideas. My sincere thanks for your recommendation! With gratitude, Saba Alhadi, Owner PhotoWalks Tours of Boston

Not really an Architecture tour ☹️

Although this was labeled an Architecture tour that included photography and history, there was very little focus on architecture during the tour. In addition, although a verbal description of the Boston Library was given, during the first 15-30 minutes of the 2 hour tour, we were left on own to walk through library! Saba was pleasant and courteous, but for this tour, just too much was missing ☹️.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. I was dismayed to receive this review because it does not reflect the experience I strive to provide on every tour. At the Boston Public Library, I gave a thorough historical overview of the building, explained its significance, highlighted its architectural features, and provided detailed guidance on how to move through the library to capture its most beautiful spaces and architectural details. Due to the library’s policies, I am not permitted to conduct guided commentary inside the building, which is why guests explore the interior independently after receiving instructions. I also explained this at the beginning of the tour. Throughout the remainder of the tour, I discussed the architecture, history, and architect of each building we visited. Every stop included an explanation of the architectural style, historical context, and suggestions for capturing memorable images. If you had wanted additional information, I would have been happy to answer any questions. No one in your group asked for further information of any of the sites throughout our walk. The tour description clearly states that this experience combines history, architecture, and photo ideas while exploring Boston on a walking tour. If you were expecting a tour focused exclusively on in-depth architectural analysis, I can understand why your expectations were not met. I appreciate your kind comment that I was pleasant and courteous. Thank you.

Informational and Educational

Saba did a great job telling us about the culture, history and architects that influenced the Boston skyline. She is very knowledgeable on photography angles, approaches and editing and strives to make everyone a better photographer. She appreciates aches with humor and you can truly tell she enjoys honing peoples skills.

Operator response

Thank you so much, Clifford! I’m glad you and your wife enjoyed exploring Boston’s architecture, history, and scenic spots. It’s always rewarding to help guests discover the stories behind the city while also sharing simple, creative photo tips along the way. Hmm… I think autocorrect may have made a mistake on “appreciates aches with humor,”-not sure what you meant, but I appreciate the sentiment. Thanks again for the thoughtful review and for choosing PhotoWalks during your visit to Boston. With great appreciation, Saba Alhadi, Owner PhotoWalks Tours of Boston
