Glimpse of Village Life With Great Guide
We really liked our guide Tony. He was so willing to share about life in the village. He took special care to make sure we would get good photographs. It was also wonderful to meet local people who let us take their pictures. We met a 92-year-old lady in her home. We saw the inside of a traditional home. Tony told us all about the plants and trees and their uses. Tony took us inside the mosque and explained the basic tenants of the Muslim religion.
We saw how the wool for making rugs was died and had a demonstration of a woman working on the rug loom. Inside the carpet cooperative we saw many beautiful carpets and were educated about the different regions of carpet making and styles. We were never pressured to buy a rug which we really appreciated. In fact, we did end up buying some rugs which will be shipped home to us. We felt good about supporting a cooperative where the rug makers receive 90% of the money.
We had lunch in the restaurant with traditional Turkish food served by the local ladies.
I think this would be a great tour for families to take their children so they could have a glimpse of village Turkish life.
I highly recommend this trip to the countryside to anyone who wants to understand Turkish village life.

Operator response
Dear Gerry,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review. We are absolutely delighted that you enjoyed your time in the village and that Tony helped make the experience so memorable.
What you described is exactly what we hope our guests discover on this tour: not simply a sightseeing visit, but a genuine opportunity to meet local people, enter a traditional home, learn about village life, Turkish culture and religion, discover how wool and handmade carpets are produced, and enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by local villagers.
We are especially pleased that you appreciated the relaxed approach at the carpet cooperative. Our intention is to introduce our guests to the centuries-old Turkish carpet and kilim tradition and to the people who keep this craft alive — never to make anyone feel pressured to purchase. We are delighted that you eventually found some carpets you loved enough to take home with you, making them a very special and lasting reminder of your time in Turkey.
Your comment that this tour is suitable for families is also greatly appreciated. We believe that seeing how people actually live, meeting local families and discovering traditional crafts can be much more meaningful than simply visiting another tourist attraction.
We will certainly share your kind words with Tony. We have been operating in Bodrum since 1990, and experiences like this are particularly important to us because they allow our guests to see a more authentic side of Turkey.
Thank you again, Gerry, for recommending the tour so warmly. We hope your carpets arrive safely in Winnipeg and that they will always remind you of your wonderful day in the Bodrum countryside. We would be delighted to welcome you and your family back to Turkey one day!
Kind regards,
Bodrumtour Team

Very nice village tour
Very nice tour, you get to see an area that is somewhat hard to reach as a tourist. Abdullah our guide was amazing and explained everything in detail. There is a carpet shop for the local cooperative. You will have a presentation about the carpet making at the end of the tour and a chance to buy carpets if you want.
Operator response
Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your wonderful review!
We are delighted that you enjoyed discovering a side of Bodrum that many visitors never get the opportunity to experience. This is exactly what makes our **Bodrum Village Tour** special — leaving the busy tourist areas behind and visiting an authentic local village that can be difficult for travellers to discover on their own.
We are especially happy that you enjoyed the detailed explanations from our guide. Our aim is not simply to show guests the village, but to help them understand the traditions, lifestyle and culture that have been preserved here for generations.
The **traditional Turkish carpet weaving** experience is certainly one of the highlights. Seeing how these beautiful handmade carpets are created, learning about the techniques and craftsmanship behind them, and visiting the local cooperative gives our guests a closer look at an important part of Turkish culture. Purchasing a carpet is, of course, completely optional.
Another part we love about this experience is enjoying an **authentic local lunch**, with traditional flavours and warm Turkish hospitality — making the day as much about tasting local life as seeing it.
For travellers looking for something beyond the beaches and busy streets of Bodrum, we truly believe this tour offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the **real, traditional and authentic side of the region**.
Thank you again for joining us and for recommending the experience. We hope to welcome you back to Bodrum for another memorable day!
Warm regards,
**Bodrum Tour Team**

Etrim, time in abeyance
A very interesting excursion with family or friends.Despite our approximate English, the Guide, Metin, used easy vocabulary, spoke slowly, very attentive. We visited a carpet factory, very interesting. But , we stayed hungry, because we did not visit a tobacco factory, tea, olive oil, mosque .... Too bad.
Operator response
Cher client,
Bien cordialement,
**Bodrum Tour Team**
