A good tour

A very nice experience! Our guide Tony showed us his village and pointed out a lot about the local culture. We had a lovely lunch made by the local women and saw how they make rugs. There was a sales pitch for the rugs, fyi.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed discovering Etrim Village with Tony, learning about the local culture, meeting the village women and enjoying the homemade lunch. We are also glad that seeing the traditional rug-making process added something special to your day. We would also like to clarify one point for future guests regarding the rug presentation you mentioned. **Yes, traditional handmade rugs and kilims are presented during this experience, and there is an opportunity to purchase them.** This is an intentional part of the experience because Turkish carpet weaving is not simply a demonstration — it is an important part of the village's culture and, for some local families, a genuine source of income. Our aim is to give guests the opportunity to understand what they are looking at: how the rugs are woven, the techniques used, the patterns, craftsmanship and the difference between a handmade Turkish carpet and a mass-produced product. **There is no obligation to purchase anything.** Guests who genuinely fall in love with a particular rug or kilim can choose to take home an authentic handmade piece with a direct connection to the village. For us, that makes the experience more meaningful than simply visiting a shop. You meet the people, see the weaving, learn about the tradition, enjoy a meal prepared by local women and, if you wish, have the opportunity to take a piece of that culture home with you. Since 1990, we have welcomed thousands of travelers to Bodrum, and introducing guests to the region's villages, traditions, food and craftsmanship has always been an important part of what we do. Thank you again for joining us and for sharing your honest feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Bodrum for another authentic experience — perhaps discovering another village, or enjoying a private day on the beautiful Aegean Sea. 🇹🇷💙

Lot of money to get to a rug sale.

Not at all what I expected. Long drive to get to an over priced- somewhat high pressure- rug sales event. Rest of the tour was just a walk around between a couple of streets. No interaction with people in village and only a quick stop in one old ladies house. Interesting, but not worth the cost of the tour. If I wanted to buy an over priced rug, I could have done that less than 100 yards from the ship.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry that this experience did not match what you personally expected. At the same time, we would like to provide some context for future travelers, because we believe this review does not fully reflect what this private tour includes. This is a PRIVATE village and cultural experience — not a standard sightseeing bus tour. For €99 TOTAL for two people, guests receive a private Mercedes Vito vehicle, a private English-speaking guide/driver, private pickup and return from Bodrum Cruise Port, approximately 5–6 hours of private service, and a traditional homemade village lunch with a generous selection of local mezes, salads and a main course. In other words, it is €49.50 per person for a private vehicle, private guide/driver, port transportation, lunch and a full half-day cultural experience. We believe this is an excellent value for travelers looking for a genuinely private shore excursion rather than a large group tour. We would also like to clarify the comment regarding the carpet experience. Traditional carpet weaving is clearly mentioned in the tour description before booking. It is part of the cultural experience in Etrim Village, where guests have the opportunity to see a traditional craft that has been part of the region's culture for generations. There is no obligation whatsoever to purchase a carpet. The tour is intentionally designed to take guests away from the busy coastal tourist areas and into the countryside, where they can see a quieter and more traditional side of Turkey. The village itself, the local food, traditional crafts and the opportunity to experience rural life are the attractions. Naturally, this type of experience will not be the right choice for every traveler. Someone looking for museums, ancient ruins or a conventional list of major tourist sights may prefer another excursion. Travelers who want a private, relaxed and authentic introduction to Turkish village life are choosing this tour for precisely those reasons. We have welcomed hundreds of travelers on this experience. The overwhelming majority have enjoyed it, although satisfied guests often do not take the time to write reviews. This review represents one of only a very small number of negative experiences among the many travelers we have served. We respect that every traveler has different expectations. We simply want future guests to understand exactly what they are booking: a private Mercedes Vito, a private English-speaking guide/driver, private port transportation, a traditional homemade lunch and several hours discovering an authentic Turkish village — all for €99 for two people. We are proud to offer this experience and hope that travelers looking for an authentic and genuinely private experience will find the tour description and the overall value a good match for what they are looking for.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the warm welcome, the smiles and the authentic atmosphere of village life. And yes… our village is definitely the real thing! 😊 The sights, sounds and even the smells are all part of experiencing a traditional Turkish village rather than a staged tourist attraction. Village experience

A lovely day spent in Etrim Village with my two wonderful hosts - especially Tony. I learned about local culture and religion while being treated to locally sourced and prepared foods. Meeting the locals and seeing how Turkish rugs are traditionally made was also a highlight. I thoroughly recommend this tour.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for recommending our Etrim Village experience! We are delighted that you enjoyed spending the day in Etrim and getting to know our local culture through the people, the food and the traditional crafts of the village. We are especially happy to hear that Tony and the team made you feel so welcome. Meeting local villagers and seeing how Turkish rugs are traditionally made is at the heart of this experience. We believe that the best way to understand a culture is not simply to look at it, but to spend time with the people, share their food and discover the traditions that have been passed down through generations. We are also very pleased that you enjoyed the locally sourced and traditionally prepared food. A Turkish village meal is much more than lunch — it is an important part of the hospitality and culture we love sharing with our guests. To our future guests reading this review: if you would like to escape the usual tourist route and experience a genuine side of Turkey, we would love to take you to Etrim. Meet the locals, discover traditional Turkish carpet weaving, enjoy authentic village food and spend a relaxed day surrounded by the beautiful countryside. Thank you again for joining us. A Beautiful Experience with Amazing Views and Stunning Handmade Carpets

We had a really lovely time here with my family and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The Etrium Dogo Restaurant was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and the views were absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting. The handmade carpets were also completely out of this world so unique and beautifully made that we ended up purchasing two. We’re very grateful, very happy with everything, and overall had a wonderful experience.

Operator response

Thank you so much for this beautiful review! We are absolutely delighted that you and your family had such a wonderful time in Etrim and enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. We are especially happy to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere, the beautiful countryside views and your time at Etrim Dogo Restaurant. Sharing a traditional meal surrounded by the peaceful village landscape is one of the experiences we are most proud to offer our guests. And we are thrilled that the handmade carpets caught your attention enough to take two beautiful pieces home with you! Each carpet is handmade, unique and carries the craftsmanship and traditions of the region. We hope your carpets will always remind you of your family day in Etrim and your time in Turkey. One of the lovely things about visiting Etrim is that you don't have to leave with just photographs and memories. If you discover a carpet, kilim, handmade necklace or another local piece that you truly love, you have the opportunity to take it home with you. These are not ordinary souvenirs made for tourists. They are **authentic, locally made pieces of Turkish craftsmanship**, created by hand and connected to the traditions of the village. Taking one home means taking a small piece of Turkey and its culture with you — something you can continue to enjoy long after your holiday has ended. For future travelers reading this review: if you are looking for something beyond the usual Bodrum sightseeing, Etrim is a wonderful escape. Come and discover an authentic Turkish village, enjoy the scenery and local food, meet the people behind the traditional crafts and see beautiful handmade carpets and kilims. And if something catches your eye, you can take it home with you — **a genuine handmade memory of Turkey rather than just another souvenir.** ❤️🇹🇷 Thank you again for your trust and recommendation. We would love to welcome you and your family to Etrim and help you create your own unforgettable Turkish memory!

A village adventure

Tony picked us up very close to where we were staying and drove us to Etrim where he took us around and told us a bit more about the village and life there. He was really friendly and keen to share about his experience living in the village and his take on life in Bodrum as well. We were also given a very insightful tour of carpet weaving in Etrim and treated to an amazing lunch spread of village fare. A very pleasant and enjoyable time spent with Tony and in Etrim!

Operator response

We’re especially pleased that you enjoyed the carpet-weaving experience. Watching the artisans work on traditional looms and seeing how these beautiful handmade carpets are created gives a much deeper appreciation for Turkish craftsmanship and village culture. And, of course, the generous homemade village lunch is an important part of the experience! For future travelers, Etrim is a wonderful choice if you want to go beyond the beaches and discover a more authentic side of Bodrum. Unique, off the beaten path experience!

Quite the experience!! Our driver was a bit tough to find, but once we got together we were on our way. Overall a unique, family experience. Would recommend to others that are looking for an “off the beaten path” experience where you’re in the countryside away from it all. We felt very welcome and cared for the entire time.

Operator response

We would be delighted to welcome you and your family back to Bodrum for another authentic experience!

Lovely village

Despite the sweltering heat, the experience was nothing short of delightful! We had the opportunity to explore a charming little village, where we savored a mouthwatering meal that was expertly prepared. The highlight, however, was witnessing the talented women of the town skillfully handcraft beautiful rugs, a true testament to their artistry and dedication.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed your visit to Etrim despite the summer heat! 😊 It means a lot to us that you appreciated the charm of the village, the delicious homemade meal and, most importantly, the incredible craftsmanship of the local women. Watching these talented artisans handcraft traditional Turkish rugs is truly a special experience. Each piece represents hours of patience, skill and generations of weaving tradition. It is something you simply cannot appreciate in the same way by looking at a rug in a shop—you see the people, the technique and the story behind the craftsmanship. And for guests who discover a rug or kilim they truly love, there is also the opportunity to take home a **genuine handmade piece of Turkish craftsmanship**—a unique and meaningful memory of their time in Etrim. For future travelers looking to escape the busy tourist areas and experience something **authentic, local and off the beaten path**, Etrim is a wonderful way to discover the countryside, meet local people, enjoy traditional food and experience an important part of Turkish culture. Thank you again for recommending us! Please share your experience with your friends and family, and we would be delighted to welcome you back to Bodrum for one of our other private experiences. And perhaps next time, you’ll stay a little longer and join us for **a full week aboard one of our private gulets**, exploring the turquoise bays of the Turkish Aegean. ⛵💙 We hope to see you again in Bodrum! 🇹🇷
