Itinerary
Rainbow Mountain is a colorful mountainside in the high Andes of Peru. In short, the mountain's colors were formed by sedimentary mineral layers in the mountain that have been exposed by erosion. The Rainbow Mountain trailhead is located a 3-hour drive from Cusco, where day trips have recently grown quite popular.
day trip from Cusco to Rainbow Mountain offers an unforgettable trekking experience with panoramic views of glaciers, dramatic landscapes, and encounters with local Andean communities. Many tours also include the nearby Red Valley, a hidden gem with stunning red-hued mountains and fewer crowds. Perfect for: adventure travelers, hikers, and photography lovers seeking one of the most colorful mountains in the world.
Red Valley (Valle Rojo) is a hidden gem near Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), offering one of the most surreal landscapes in the Peruvian Andes. Its intense red hills, caused by iron-rich soil, create a Martian-like scenery unlike anywhere else on Earth. After visiting Rainbow Mountain, many trekkers choose to extend the hike into Red Valley, where fewer tourists go—making it a peaceful and authentic experience surrounded by dramatic colors, snow-capped peaks, and wide-open Andean views.

Punctual pick-up in front of the hotel. Smooth organization, which is not a given in Peru. Good food, especially lunch. Adventurous quad bike ride in incomparable nature. Highly recommended. Quads have come down a bit. My quard went out several times.
The most spiritual experience I had in Peru was at this mountain. The altitude brought me visions and I could feel the energy of this place so strongly. I resonated with the Incas and their beliefs and felt very connected. Our private tour was intimate and our guide was very knowledgeable. I will return to this place again.
Richard made this a trip if a lifetime!! Highly recommended. I just wish we had more time with him. So welcoming and attentive to our requests. Can’t miss
Thank you very much for such sensible words for our services. We greatly appreciate sharing your experiences with our team.
Booked our trip on visitor to visit rainbow mountain, which is a must see experience if you’re visiting Peru. Our driver picked us up at our hotel is Cusco and we headed out for the 3 hour drive to the mountain. I have to really complement the driving, because the last 30 minutes of the ride, the only road up the mountain is unpaved and runs along the mountain side. Our driver navigated the roads without issue and I was happy to have him driving. Once there, our guide Richard explained we had the option of renting a horse or hiking the trail to the base of the mountain. My fiancé took the horse and I chose to walk (30 min by horse and 1hr-2hr walking depending on your endurance). Once at the mountain, Richard had walking poles ready for us and took photos for us. My fiancé had an issue with the altitude and Richard even had an oxygen tank to help her. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend them to anyone looking to book.
We really appreciate your review about us, thanks and we look forward to do the best of us and enjoy the best experience ever.
