Head around the sparkling lake to Oishi Park. Oishi Park is home to fields of flowers spreading like a carpet along the lakeshore. You’ll definitely want to get your camera out. This is a lovely spot to breathe in the fresh air of Japan’s countryside and allow the views to relax you.
Kubota Itchiku was a renowned artist who revived the traditional fabric dyeing technique of Tsujigahana. Tsujigahana flourished in Muromachi period (1336-1573) but then fell out of favour. In the 1930s he became fascinated by silk dyeing and devoted his life to mastering the Tsujigahana technique. Along the shores of Kawaguchiko stands a museum devoted to him, with several of his most beautiful kimono creations. You can see his unfinished masterpiece "Symphony of Light", a piece comprised of 80 kimonos that together form of a picture of Mount Fuji. The buildings themselves, as well as the garden are also interesting. The buildings are made of Okinawan coral and limestone and built in Gaudi fashion, while the gardens were designed by Itchiku Kubota himself and stretch from the entrance gate far into the wooded slopes behind the museum buildings. Much of the garden is not wheelchair accessible however you can still enjoy the indoor exhibits of the museum, as well as the outdoor architecture. (*museum is closed on Tuesdays except in October/November so Tuesday tours will instead see the Kawaguchiko Music Forest)
A small village with eight springs filled with breathtakingly blue water and revered as the "springs of the gods", where pilgrims used to purify themselves in the springs. The water comes from the snow melt from Mt. Fuji itself and was designated as a World Heritage site together with Mt.Fuji in 2013.

Keita guided our great day trip from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji area. He was friendly and adaptable to my brother's needs (he uses a manual tilt 18"x 16" wheelchair). Kei was able to outline for us of the places that had wheelchair accessible bathrooms, and gave options of what we could access with a wheelchair. Alternatives were provided as my brother could not transfer out of his personal wheelchair to the museum wheelchair. When we were doubtful about getting down the steep ramp to the boat dock for the lake boat trip, Kei reassured us that the boat company staff had assisted others in a wheelchair and they successfully got him down and back up the ramp. Kei was knowledgeable about Mt. Fuji and surrounding area. The wheelchair accessible van was adequate for our needs (fit the wheelchair, and 3 passengers at the back). The tour did not include the boat trip price (1000 yen per ticket) nor lunch. We would recommend Kei for an accessible day trip to Mt. Fuji from Tokyo. Just let him know what your needs are and he can outline what your options are!

They had a wheelchair vehicle that could accommodate our son and met us at our hotel in Tokyo to take us to Mount Fuji for the day. Keita was a wonderful guide and was very friendly, helpful and informative. We had a wonderful day with a boat trip, tempura meal and various sites to explore. Highly recommended.

Great trip - I’m a fulltime wheelchair user and guide was very considerate and knowledgeable about what I could see and do. Even though Mt Fuji was covered by clouds the day we went it was still an awesome day and greeat to get out of Tokyo for the day.

Rie was absolutely an incredible host/guide. We had such a great experience and she and the driver took care of us at every step along the journey. She customized everything to our preferences and we enjoyed learning about the history of Japan and Mount Fuji. If you are in a wheelchair or have someone in your party who needs one, this is the tour for you. I would request Rie as she is the best!!!!
